Ordered this cable modem in late September. Set-up was simple and straightforward, and it worked as intended for about five or six weeks. Then is started dropping the Internet connection. At first it was just once or twice a day, but the frequency of drops increased rapidly. I was able to confirm that the modem was at fault because the separate router still connected my local-area computers, and a leased modem-router had no trouble making and keeping a connection. The modem got very hot in use, even though it was several inches away from anything on one side, and open to the room on all other sides, including top and bottom. Maybe I got a faulty device, but this wasn't a good purchase for me.
