Judging by the title I thought this book would have all the ESSENTIAL knowledge for building families. Now I realize ESSENTIAL means "the minimum possible". It is insulting. It`s basically an informal superficial chat about what you can expect to find and do on Revit families, but it doesn't tell you how it's done!!!! Putting it in other words, reading this book is exactly the same as browsing through the buttons in the Revit interface. You are shown what exists, you get a brief description, and on to the next chapter. I is unbelievable how can Ken Jolly sleep at night knowing he's making money out of a useless bunch of printed paper.
Well I guess the author is satisfied because he actually teaches you something. You get to model a 3-extrusions-table and insert Revit's existing chairs into a parametric array. Wow!!! That's definitely going to boost our knowledge and understanding on the incredibly complex and time consuming world of Revit's families.
