Hard to NOT be let down after The Master's ringing endorsement, but stripping away those overblown expectations, this was still better than much contemporary horror. The writing is smooth & easy, and nothing is overtly stupid (which, sadly, is high praise these days). Entertaining airplane read, but immediately forgettable. If you're expecting mac-n-cheese, and you get mac-n-cheese, you're happy. If you're expecting Michelin 3 star & get mac-n-cheese, you might be a tad wee bit put out. The trick (to this book, and life in general) is to manage your expectations, so don't expect miracles from Kindle left-overs. Just be happy its consumable at all ;)
