I'm glad I paid the extra money for a quality organic mattress. With everything they put into mattresses these days it was important for me to find an organic mattress at a price I could handle. This was really the top of our budget but the mattress has definitely delivered.
There was no strange smell when we opened it and it is quite comfortable as I have slept with my toddler on it. I love that it has a water resistant side that is food grade for when he is out of diapers and potty training. He seems to really enjoy his sleep and I can rest knowing it is high quality with no chemical off gassing. My husband agreed that it seemed very sturdy and will stand the test of time.
It is quite firm, but as it should be for a child I suspect. In the future you can always add a topper. It came beautifully packaged way ahead of schedule. Amazon's prices, service, and selection really can't be beat. I will be investing in another one of these, if they are still sold by amazon once my 2nd child is out of the crib (still inutero haha).
