A 16x4 modem at this price? You bet I wanted to like it, but it wasn't meant to be. The first three weeks were great with speed tests averaging about 190 Mbps on my 150 Mbps Comcast plan, but then one evening it tanked down to 6 Mbps. A full system reboot produced no change, so I reinstalled my old Motorola SB6121 and the speed was back up to about 148 Mbps. There are a lot of reports about the heat the CM500 produces, and mine was definitely getting warmer than I liked, even though it sat in a very well ventilated spot on the top of my desk. I can't say for certain that the excessive heat was the problem, but the small amount of vent openings in the center do not seem adequate at all. I love my Nighthawk router, but Netgear needs to go back to drawing board if they want to stay in the modem business.
Other Thoughts: I did not like the small status lights. I could only see them when looking directly at the front. They are invisible when viewed from even the slightest angle.
