I absolutely love this addition to The Vampire Diaries, The Bennett Witch Chronicles. There are some fabulous authors included in this series with some outstanding reads. Jena Gregoire’s Nightshade Curse happens to be one of them. This book is full of mystery, suspense, intrigue, magic, action, and humor and includes appearances from two of the original vampires residing in New Orleans, Klaus and Elijah Mikaelson, as well as Bonnie’s Mystic Fall’s friends. Ms. Gregoire does a wonderful job of world building to capture your attention from the start to the end of this story. Bonnie and her friends are well written characters with a great storyline that includes lots of excitement, mystery and magic. This is a compelling book you do not want to miss out on.
In this adventure in the Bennett Witch Chronicles, Bonnie Bennett is renting an apartment on Bourbon Street in the Crescent City and she is ready to relax, take in the sights, people watch and wait for her friends’ arrival for Mardi Gras so they can hang out on her balcony, throw beads to the masses and have some fun. Unbeknownst to her there is an old evil brewing in New Orleans and she just walked into the fray. Witches are going missing, including her new friend Cassidy, and Elijah Mikaelson, one of the original vampires and a past nemesis from Mystic Falls, and it is up to her to figure out why. With her new friend, Roman, Cassidy’s brother, and Klaus Mikaelson, Elijah’s brother and another one of the original vampires, both at her side what could possibly go wrong? More complications arise as they determine the origin of the evil and its ultimate goal. Banishing the evil and reversing the curse will take a lot of magic but Bonnie is up to the challenge. After all, she has faced something similar to this before back home in Mystic Falls. This is terribly powerful and complicated magic and she has multiple spells to work in order for them to succeed. She can only hope she is strong enough and Roman and Klaus will have her back. Everything is at stake this time, especially her life, as she fights to free Elijah, Cassidy and the others from the Nightshade Curse.
