I read very little fiction but the incongruity of the description and bookBub special price got me. What a delightful read.
A woman with a college degree who cleans houses for a living is an interesting but understandable character. She made the choice upon realizing that by working for wealthy people it was possible to match her weekly office paycheck in three hours of house work. Plus she LIKES cleaning and was known to clean grout with a toothbrush at three o’clock in the morning.
The inheritance of a fancy house appeals but the catch (her former friend’s mother with early stages of Alzheimer’s) is quite a challenge. And little Lucy is the epitome of “the terrible twos.”
There are enough memories of her own family disfunction that add to the general appeal. Throw in a touch of romance and the gumbo is complete. Though a few more character seasonings improve the flavor.
