The book strongly implies that Harry Truman was eligible to run for re-election in 1952 only because he had served part of FDRâs 4th term. That is not correct. The fact that Truman served part of that term is irrelevant. Amendment XXII to the Constitution (which created the two term limit for Presidents) specifically excluded Truman as the sitting President when it was adopted. The point is Truman could have run for re-election as many times as he wanted to. I love the book, but hope this gets fixed in the paperback edition.
