At last...got Amazon.apps downloaded onto my Samsung. When I tried several times to get it downloaded, the Amazon site told how to click the box to let other unauthorized apps be downloaded. They said "go to applications" and click a box. Samsung "Applications" does not have this box to check. So, I decided to see if I could get "Get Jar" to download. In doing that, Get Jar opened up my Security tab which...low and behold....had a box to click to let other applications be downloaded. So I clicked the box and went back and downloaded "Get Jar." I downloaded it...on the bottom right of the screen is a little itsy bitsy arrow showing it being downloaded. So when it gets done moving, click on it and it opens up the Settings. Tells you "Get Jar" was successfully downloaded. Click on it and it opens up and asks you if you want to install it. The icon shows up on your desktop. So, did the same thing with Amazon.com apps. Both icons are now on my desktop. I now am a happy Samsung Gaxaxy Tab 2 owner. Before I was disgusted that Samsung was limited to just their apps. I read where some said it could not be done and some saying it could. So figured it could be done. Hope this helps someone. I am unfamiliar with Android...but learning.

The answers to this question are helpful, but having used both the Fire and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, seems I've noticed some apps are developed differently for the two operating systems, and the Samsung version, in some instances, is better -- more features and more user-friendly.
