Inventory Storage Fees

Effective February 22, 2017, FBA fees have changed. For a complete list of changes, go to Fulfillment by Amazon Fee Changes.

Storage fees are based on the daily average volume (measured in cubic feet) for the space your inventory occupies in fulfillment centers. The volume measurement is based on unit size when properly packaged and ready to ship in accordance with FBA Policies and Requirements.

Amazon reserves the right to make its own measurement of the cubic feet or weight of packaged units or representative samples. In the event of any conflict between an Amazon measurement and information provided by the seller, Amazon's measurement will govern.

Monthly Inventory Storage Fee

Inventory Storage Fees are typically charged between the 7th and 15th day of the month following the month the fee applies to. For example, to see the Inventory Storage Fee for January, refer to the February Payments report for transactions from February 7-15.

Fees vary by product-size tier and by month. Although standard-size products are often smaller than oversize products, they require more complex and costly shelving, drawers, and bins for storage. Fees are charged by cubic foot, however, which means that standard-size products overall storage fee may be less than that of oversize products, based on volume.

Month Standard-SizeOversize
January - September $0.64 per cubic foot $0.43 per cubic foot
October - December $2.35 per cubic foot $1.15 per cubic foot

Long-term inventory storage fee

A semi-annual Long-Term Storage Fee applies to units that have been stored in an Amazon fulfillment center for 6 months or longer. Units that have been in an Amazon fulfillment center for 6 to 12 months as of the Inventory Cleanup date are charged $11.25 per cubic foot. Units that have been in an Amazon fulfillment center for 12 months or more as of the Inventory Cleanup date are charged $22.50 per cubic foot.

The Long-Term Storage Fee is in addition to the monthly Inventory Storage Fee. Fees are not charged if a removal order has been submitted prior to the fee being charged.

Calculating Cubic Feet from Inches

  1. Multiply length x width x height in inches to get the volume.
  2. Divide the volume by 12 cubic inches (12" x 12" x 12" = 1,728)
  3. Example: A Unit measuring 47" x 12" x 10" divided by 1,728 = 3.3 cu. ft.

Note: Use the FBA Revenue Calculator to estimate your fees for specific items using active listings on Amazon.
