Set Up Your Dash Button Device

Connect your Dash Button device to Wi-Fi and select a product.

Set Up Your Dash Button Device with a Supported Phone

Supported phones

  • iOS 8.3 or higher
  • Android 4.1 or higher
Before you begin, make sure you have the latest version of the Amazon Shopping app. To learn more, go to Download the Amazon Shopping App. Also, make sure you use the Amazon account that you used to order your Dash Button device.

To set up your Dash Button device:

  1. Turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on your Phone.

    During setup, your Dash Button device connects to your phone over Bluetooth so you can enter Wi-Fi information. For best results, make sure your phone is also connected to the Wi-Fi network that your Dash Button device will use.

    Note: Some Dash Button devices do not support Bluetooth. These devices use your phone's Wi-Fi connection or speakers to pass along Wi-Fi information.

  2. Open the Amazon Shopping app.
  3. Sign in to your Amazon account.

    Enter the password associated with your Amazon account, and then tap Sign in.

    iPhone: If you have Touch ID set up on your iPhone, you may be prompted to sign in to your Amazon account using your fingerprint. If your iPhone does not recognize your Touch ID, scan your fingerprint again or tap Type Amazon Password to type your password instead.

  4. Start Setup.

    1. Then tap the Menu icon (in the top left corner).
    2. Select Your Account.
    3. Under Dash Devices select Set up a new device.
    4. If prompted to select device type, select Dash Button
    5. Read the terms and conditions. If you agree to them, tap Agree & Get Started
  5. Connect your Dash Button device to Wi-Fi.

    Make sure your Dash Button device is near your phone when you connect it to a Wi-Fi network. Also, make sure to set up the Dash Button device close to the location where it will be normally used to ensure the strength of the Wi-Fi signal.


    1. On your Dash Button device, press and hold the button until the LED blinks blue, and then release the button.
    2. In the app, select Connect. Your Dash Button device searches for available Wi-Fi connections. It also connects to your phone so you can enter Wi-Fi information.

      Note: Some Dash Button devices and phones do not support Bluetooth connections. If your phone does not connect to your button, select Skip Bluetooth Setup. Then, follow the instructions in the app. Your phone then uses other connection options.

    3. Enter a network password for the selected Wi-Fi network. Then tap Continue.

      Note: If you would like to change Wi-Fi networks, please begin the setup process again.

      Optional: Select the checkbox to save your Wi-Fi password to Amazon for the next time you set up a new compatible device. When you set up a new compatible device, your Wi-Fi password is automatically used during this step so that you don't have to enter it again. To turn off this feature, deselect the checkbox.     4. Select Continue.

  6. Select the product you would like to reorder with your Dash Button device.

    You can choose an option from the product line your Dash Button device is associated with. For example if you have a Dash Button device for a brand of laundry detergent, you can select various scents and sizes of detergent. Tap the item to select it.

    Note: Prime Surprise Sweets selections are always a surprise and cannot be customized during the setup process.

  7. Confirm your 1-Click shipping and payment information.

    Review your default 1-Click shipping and payment information. Your Dash Button device uses this information when you place an order. After you confirm the shipping and payment information, tap Complete Setup.

    Tip: To modify your 1-Click shipping and payment information, visit Manage Addresses and 1-Click Settings. To learn more, go to Change your 1-Click Settings

  8. Hang or stick your Dash Button device.

    To stick your Dash Button device to a wall or other flat surface, remove the adhesive liner from the back of the device and then press it against the desired surface for at least 10 seconds. To remove your Dash Button device, slowly peel it away from the wall or other flat surface.

    Tip:
    • The mounting surface should be cleaned and dried before attaching a Dash Button device.
    • Your Dash Button device works best on a flat wall or vertical surface.
    • Adhere your Dash Button device to metal or plastic surfaces. Glass, ceramic, wood, wallpaper, and delicate surfaces are not recommended.
    • If the adhesive gets dirty, peel off the adhesive and wash it with soapy water, rinse, and then air dry to refresh stickiness before using it again. The adhesive may lose stickiness with repeated washing over time.
