Manage Your Alexa Skill Notifications

Some Alexa skills can notify you of certain events, like when an order arrives.

Participating skills feature notifications options you can enable from the skill detail page.

Example - The AccuWeather skill can send notifications about severe weather alerts.

Not all skills have notifications, and the skill developer determines which events create a notification. See the skill detail page for more information about available notifications options for specific skills.

To turn skill notifications on or off:

  1. Open the Alexa app.
  2. Go to the menu and select Skills.
  3. Select Your Skills. Select a skill to view available notifications options.
  4. Select Manage Permissions.
  5. Use the toggle to turn notifications On or Off.

When you get a notification, your device will chime and the light ring pulses yellow. On Echo Show, a notification banner also displays on-screen.

You can always ask Alexa for your notifications by saying, "read my notifications," as well.

Tip: To adjust the sound and volume for skill notifications, go to the menu in the Alexa app and open Settings. Select your device, then select Sounds.
