Using Household Profiles on Alexa Devices
With Amazon Household, you can share eligible content, manage select account features, and access customized information on compatible Alexa devices.
You can create an Amazon Household using the Alexa app or from your computer at Manage Your Household. During the setup process, there is a prompt for the other user's account information.
Make sure the person you're adding to your Amazon Household is present, and then follow these steps in the Alexa app:
Go to the menu and select Settings.
Scroll to the Accounts section and select Household Profile.
Follow the on-screen instructions.
When you add a second adult to your Amazon Household, you are authorizing that person to use the payment method associated with your Amazon account.
Child profiles can access supported content through Amazon FreeTime on compatible devices. To learn more, go to About Amazon FreeTime on Alexa.
You can require a confirmation code for voice purchases in the Alexa app. To learn more, go to Manage Voice Purchasing Settings.
On Echo devices with a screen, the second adult in your Amazon Household can view your Prime Photos. For information about restricting access to your photos, go to Restrict Access on Your Echo Device.
On Echo Look, you can only see and delete photos in your own account. Alexa identifies which account is active when you ask her to take a photo. Alexa does this after switching accounts on the Echo Look, or if the Echo Look has been idle for more than fifteen minutes.
Switch to Another Profile
After you set up an Amazon Household, you can switch profiles between adult users on compatible Alexa devices. Just say, "Switch accounts."
Tip: To check the profile you're currently using, you can say, "Which account is this?"
When browsing a content library in the Alexa app, use the drop-down menu at the top of the screen to toggle between user libraries.
Remove an Adult from Your Amazon Household Using the Alexa app
When you remove an adult from your Amazon Household, you aren't able to add either user account to another Amazon Household for 180 days.
Note: If you remove an adult by accident and want to re-add that user, please contact Customer Service.
To remove a user from your Amazon Household:
Open the Alexa app, go to the menu, and select Settings.
Scroll to the Accounts section, and select In an Amazon household with (Name).
Select Remove next to the user you want to remove. If you're removing yourself, select Leave.
Select Remove again to confirm the change.
