Download & Pair the Fire TV App

Download the Fire TV App to your compatible mobile device and pair it with your Fire TV device to use as an alternate remote.


The Fire TV App is available on:

  • All 4th Generation and later Fire tablets
  • Android devices (running Android OS 4.0.3 or higher)
  • iOS devices (running iOS 7.0 or higher)

Note: If you use advanced settings on your router or modem, you must enable Multicast support to use the Fire TV App. If you're not sure how to manage these settings, contact the manufacturer.


To download the Fire TV App, search for "Amazon Fire TV App" in your preferred app store on your mobile device. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete installation.

To pair the Fire TV App:

  1. Connect your mobile device to your local Wi-Fi network. For best results, use the same network your Fire TV device is connected to.
  2. Launch the Fire TV App, and select the Fire TV device you want to pair with.

    Note: If you can't find your device, you may see a prompt to Sign in to your Amazon account. Tap the Sign In option and enter your Amazon account information to help the app discover devices registered to your account.

  3. Enter the code displayed on your TV screen to pair the app with your Fire TV device.

Once you pair the Fire TV App, you cannot unpair it. However, if you factory reset your Fire TV device, all paired remotes and controllers are removed.

To block access to a paired device, you can also change your Wi-Fi network password.

Tip: To see all of the remotes paired to your Fire TV device, go to Settings > Controllers and Bluetooth Devices > Amazon Fire TV Remotes.

Important: The Voice button at the top of the Fire TV App only works for customers in the U.S. and U.S. territories, customers in the UK, customers in Germany or Austria, customers in Japan, and customers in India.
