Buy & Download Kindle Content from Kindle E-Reader

When you connect wirelessly, you can buy content from the Kindle Store and download it directly to your device.

How to purchase content on any Kindle e-reader, 3rd generation and newer. See Which Kindle E-reader Do I Have? if you're not sure which Kindle e-reader model you're using.

When you purchase Kindle content from your device, it automatically downloads so you can begin reading. The content is also stored in the Cloud so you can download it to compatible devices or Kindle reading apps registered to the same account.

Tip: If you'd like to learn about preventing accidental purchases, go to Set Up Parental Controls on Kindle E-Reader.

To purchase Kindle content from your device:

  1. From Home, select the Store icon (newer generation devices), or select Menu, and then Shop in Kindle Store (earlier generation devices).

    Tip: If your Kindle is connected to a 3G network, you can buy and download content. To download content faster, connect to a Wi-Fi network.

  2. Browse the store, or search for a specific title.
  3. Select Buy to purchase a title. To subscribe to a periodical, select Subscribe Now.

    Tip: Tap Try a Sample to download the beginning of the book for free.

  4. Return to Home to view the newly-purchased title.

Note: Purchased Kindle content is automatically added to your device. Books with larger files may take longer to download.
