Kindle Fire HD (3rd Generation) Software Updates

We have a new, free software update available for your Kindle Fire HD (3rd Generation). This update automatically downloads and installs on your Fire tablet when connected wirelessly; however, you can also manually download the software and transfer the update to your device via USB cable.

The software update includes general improvements and performance enhancements.

Determine Your Software Version

Determine the current software version on your Kindle Fire HD before downloading and installing a software update.

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to open Quick Settings, and then tap Settings.
  2. Tap Device, and then tap System Updates.

    If you have the latest software update, it should look like this: Your device is running Fire OS

Important: Your device must be on software version 3.2.5 or above in order to download this software update.
