Listen to Audiobooks on Fire Tablet

In the Audiobooks library on your Fire tablet, you can shop for, purchase, and listen to audiobooks from Help for Kindle Fire HD (3rd Generation), Kindle Fire HDX 7" (3rd Generation), and Kindle Fire HDX 8.9" (3rd Generation).

  1. From Home, tap Audiobooks, and then tap Store.
  2. Use the Search field to find a title. To narrow your search, swipe in from the left edge of the screen, and then select a category, such as Immersion Reading or Audible Best Sellers.
  3. Tap a title to play a sample, learn more about the audiobook, and see purchase options.

  4. To go to your Library, swipe from the left edge of the screen, and then tap Audiobooks. Tap a title to download it to your device.

After the download is complete, you can listen to the audiobook even when your device is not connected to a wireless network. To listen to an audiobook, tap Audiobooks from the Home screen, and then tap Stats & Badges to view your audiobook listening stats, such as daily, monthly, and total listening time, and audiobook badges you have earned.

Tip: You can earn badges for your Audible account based on your listening activities and other actions, such as when or how long you listen to a book.

Link your Amazon and Audible accounts

If you have an existing Audible account but don't see your titles in your Audiobooks library on your Fire tablet, you will need to link your Audible account to your Amazon account.

  1. Go to and sign in using your Audible username and password. You'll be asked to connect your Audible account with your Amazon account.
  2. Click the Link Now button.
  3. Enter your Audible password when requested.
  4. Enter your Amazon email address and password when requested.
  5. Select the credit or debit card you wish to use as the Default Card for Audible purchases and membership charges, or enter a new credit or debit card.

After you link your Amazon and Audible account:

  • Your Audible audiobooks now appear on your Fire tablet, and you can access Audible member discounts.
  • You can manage your Audible audiobooks in three places: your Audiobooks library on your Fire tablet, Manage Your Content and Devices, or
  • When you use Audible, you will need to access your Audible account with your Amazon email and password. Your previous Audible username will no longer work.
