About Amazon Households and Family Library

You can share select eligible content with the other adult and children in your Amazon Household through Family Library.

In order to use Family Library to share content with another adult, you must first join an Amazon Household together. Members of an Amazon Household include:

  • Two adults, each with their own Amazon account.
  • Up to four children, whose profiles are created from an adult’s account.
  • Up to four teen logins, but teens are unable to share content.

The child profiles added to your Amazon Household can access shared and supported digital content through Amazon FreeTime on compatible devices.

For more information, go to About Amazon Households. For information about sharing other benefits, such as shipping benefits and streaming videos included with Amazon Prime, go to Share Your Amazon Prime Benefits.

Create and Manage an Amazon Household

You can create or manage your Amazon Household at Manage Your Household.

For instructions, go to Create a Household.

Share Content Using Family Library

You can start sharing eligible content after creating your Amazon Household. Each adult chooses to share all compatible content or individual titles.

Important: Some devices may need to be enabled to view shared content. Amazon devices and apps can't access shared content that is incompatible. To learn more, go to Devices and Apps Compatible with Family Library.

Content that cannot be shared includes:

  • Music in your Music Library
  • Kindle Unlimited titles
  • Prime Video

To share content through Family Library:

  1. Go to Manage Your Content and Devices and click the Your Content tab.
  2. Click the Show drop-down menu and choose the content type you'd like to share.
  3. Check the box next to the title you'd like to share, and then click Add to Library.

Tip: If you do not see Add to Library after you've selected a title, select Show Family Library.

  4. Select a profile from the drop-down menu, and then click OK.
