Using Multiple Alexa Devices

Alexa voice service works on all of your Alexa-enabled devices. Some content and settings are shared across all devices registered to your account.

We're releasing a series of incremental Alexa App improvements. We're working hard to bring you help content that matches these improvements. Thank you for your patience.

Amazon Alexa devices are controlled with your voice or through a companion app.

If you have more than one device that uses the same wake word, Alexa responds from the device you're closest to using Echo Spatial Perception (ESP).

Select Fire Tablets support hands-free and respond to a wake word if enabled. To learn more, go to Using Alexa on Your Fire Tablet.

Shared Content and Common Settings

If you have more than one Alexa device registered to your account, some of your content and settings are shared between the devices.

In the Alexa app, go to the menu and select Settings to the content that's shared for all devices. Some content is not common between devices on the same account, including:

  • Alarms and timers
  • Sounds
  • Bluetooth connections

Note: At this time, you cannot customize which content is available on specific devices.
