Pottermore purchase doesn't show on Amazon

Hi - I have a Kindle Fire and I love it. I purchased the first Harry Potter book several weeks ago successfully, and just now purchased the second. The message I get from Pottermore says that the book has successfully been sent to my Kindle account, but it isn't appearing in my list of books, either on my Kindle Fire or my PC. I checked to see if there were any download deliveries pending, and there are not. Before I contact Pottermore, I thought I'd ask if anyone else has had this happen, and if anyone has any suggestions. Thanks!

@S. Anderson,

I downloaded all the Harry Potter books and they actually showed up a pending on all the devices on my account.

Did you look in Manage Your Kindle list of books? Mine are listed in there and part of my Amazon books. I would also check to make sure you downloaded them to your Amazon Account. I know there are several devices that you can download them to.

If none of those options work, I would contact Customer Service and see if they can locate them. Contacting Pottermore is a good option also.

Thanks Sue - I looked in Manage Your Kindle, and the book isn't there. When I downloaded them from Pottermore (which I have tried twice now), both times I selected the Amazon Kindle tab, and the second time I tried it, the message said that the book was already in my Amazon account. I'll contact Customer Service and see what they say, thanks! - Sue Anderson

I contacted Amazon customer service last night and chatted with Jammie. He told me to contact Pottermore because it's a Pottermore issue. I contacted Pottermore, and Mara told me that the transaction to Amazon was successful, so it's an Amazon issue. I believe Pottermore, because the ebook appears on their website as being purchased and downloaded, plus my bank account shows that the amount I paid is pending. Any suggestions?

Were you logged into the correct amazon account at the time that you purchased the book? If not, then the book would've probably become associated with the wrong amazon account.

Can you see if pottermore can give you some sort of transaction id that amazon can use to look up the transaction? I'm not sure if that's possible, but there should be some sort of id used for the message between the two systems that can be used to track down this type of issue.

As a side note, from being a software dev, ill just mention that just because one system sees the transaction as having gone through, it doesn't guarantee that that end did what they were supposed to do correctly in the communication between the two systems. Ive seen far too many times when everything looked fine on a system that sent a transaction, but when we dug in, they either didn't send the message they were supposed to, or there was an error and the sending system failed to correctly handle the error.

(Not saying its definitely pottermores fault... just that I wouldn't rule it out)

Thanks TuxGirl - just spoke with Trevor from Amazon support on the phone, and he fixed the problem. Trevor is a genius! Thanks for your suggestions.

Did he indicate what the problem was ( in case someone else has the same problem)?

We walked through the steps of downloading the ebook from Pottermore together over the phone, step by step. Last night when I purchased the book on their website, I went through all the steps and the final message I got indicated that the ebook had been sent to Amazon successfully. Today, the message we got was different - it had a link to take me directly to my Kindle cloud, which was more specific than just letting me know my download was successful. I remember thinking they were two completely different messages. In fact, I tried downloading the ebook twice last night, and the second time I got a message that said my ebook had "already been downloaded and added to my Kindle account", so it wasn't deducted from my seven available downloads. May I be honest and say, it was probably operator error (mine)??

No matter what I do, the Pottermore website will not let me set up an account. I did everything they said several times, and always they reject. Impossible website so I am giving up.
