To restore your cover art:

1. Restart the device - hold the power button until it asks you to Shut Down and select Shut Down. Turn it back on. That may clear up the problem. If not:

2. Clear App Data for the Launcher and the Kindle app:
*Tap on Settings (round gear icon)
*Tap on Applications
*Tap on All Applications
*Tap on Launcher and then "Clear Data"

**Return to the previous screen.

*Tap on Amazon Kindle and then "Clear Data"

It may take a few minutes for all of your books to reappear. Despite the warnings you WILL NOT lose your books by doing this.

If your apps in the Apps tab are still gray squares after doing this you may benefit by resetting your Apps.

On your Home page:
* Settings (round gear icon) > More...> Applications
* Set filter to "All Applications"
* Scroll down to "Appstore"
* "Clear Data"

Now wait a minute while the Fire finds its apps again (no need to be online). All apps will reappear. None of your apps will be lost doing this.

When it's done finding the apps, shut down & restart the Fire. Then go online and sync it. Then scroll through the app shelves and let it find all of the icons for display.

Please click 'Yes' if this helped you

you may need to clear your app data. Here's how:

1. Try rebooting: Unplug your Kindle from its charger. Hold the Power button on for a full 30 seconds (count 'em -- it matters). You didn't say what model Kindle you have, but if it's a Fire, you need to press Power one more time to continue the process. Let it reboot fully. It may take a couple of minutes. This in itself may fix the problem. Otherwise, go on to step 2.

2. Clear App Data for the Launcher and Reader app:
--Tap on Quick Settings
--Tap on Applications
--Tap on All Applications
--Tap on Launcher and then "Clear App Data"
--Return to the previous screen.
--Tap on Amazon Kindle and then "Clear App Data"

3. If this doesn't fix it, contact Customer Service -----> Click on the big yellow Contact Us button to your right. Your best bet is to use the Call Me feature. They call almost instantly and your account info is already brought up on their screen. No need to spend time just to verify who you are. Email contact seems to be the least satisfactory because they can't troubleshoot with you in real time.
