It seems like you're on a bit of a crusade here. We only have your side of the story, so I don't see how we can give an unbiased opinion.

As this is a Kindle Help Forum, do you have a help-related question, or are you simply plugging your blog website?

Tink-erbell I was really upset reading about this. That is why I wanted to ask here.
The blog itself is not mine, or anything I am involved in. It belongs to a well-known IT/media guy in Norway.

I just noticed the title of your thread, 'What would I have to to end up in this situation?'. Your name isn't Linn by any chance, is it?
EDIT
This is turning into a real, 'a friend of a friend of a friend of someone I know told me about something they'd overheard on a bus' saga.
I'd rather hear about it from the person it happened to, than second, third or fourth hand.

I guess Linn wouldn't be able to log in here anymore. I'm not Linn, I am an Amazon customer who don't want to end up in Linns situation.
And the title SHOULD have been "What would I have to do to end up in this situation?". Not possible to edit the title.
But your question is a bit off topic.

Yes. The help question is "What would I have to do to end up in this situation?". Any practical examples?

Strip DRM off the books and put them up for sale yourself, or just e-mail them to 100 friends.

As we are primarily customers here, we wouldn't be able to provide any more insight than you already possess outside of speculation or conjecture.
That said, as the initial letter mentions abuse of policies, I would say that anything that violates Amazon's Terms of Service may make one vulnerable to account revocation. Here is the US Amazon link which covers legal conditions of use:

I think it's pretty clear that they won't provide any information as to what they have done wrong. It sounds like rather arbitrary justice. If I was a U.S. citizen, I'd sue them for defamation of character. I'd probably involve the EFF, or the ACLU.
And THIS is why I'll never use a Kindle, or a DRM encoded eBook.

So C B Sherlock, you've appointed yourself judge, jury and executioner in this without hearing both sides of the case. Are you perchance also a conspiracy theorist?

Because I would very much like to use the Kindle. From all accounts CBRetriver, it's an amazing device. But the fact is, Amazon can take away your rights and your property very quickly. Oh, but how we forget! Some time ago they rather ironically revoked all the copies of George Orwell's 1984 from early version of the Kindle. They then apologized after there was a massive uproar, and said they'd never do that again.
Well, looks like they can be trusted, right? I think not.

CBRetriever, conspiracy theories, like lies, will travel round the world before the truth has got its boots on. You're whistling in the wind if you think you can change the mind of someone who's latched on to one.

It was sold by Amazon, and they admitted that it was a very stupid decision to have made. A company spokesman even said so and told everyone that they wouldn't do it again. So says the NY Times.

She will never know, given that Amazon won't disclose anything about why they canned her account.
Incidentally, the thought does crossed my mind that Amazon won't tell Linn about the other account due to a privacy issue, whereby they would be violating privacy laws if they disclosed the other account. Personally, I think that it would be pretty awesome if Linn can get Amazon to try to stop information that would prove that her account is linked to another account by arguing that it would infringe a completely different person's privacy if it disclosed any information about the linked account that caused the original notification.
Perhaps that's just me?
