Excellent in providing Economic intuition
on April 20, 2014
I have been a Teaching Assistant for the Principles of Economics courses (Micro and Macro) for the last 4 years. I like these authors' books because they don't focus on math and instead focus on the underlying economic intuition. My teaching philosophy is that Principles of Economics should be taught in an intuitive way. Students will receive rigorous treatment of the subjects in the Intermediate level courses, if they choose to major in Economics. I will be using this book in the Fall semester when I start teaching at a liberal arts College. The online homework assignments are too long and unnecessary, so I will choose to assign them my own homework problem sets. It's more work for me, but at least I won't tire my students without a good reason. Having said that, the latest book version does not justify its mark-up of $250 extra of what you can buy the previous edition at a very good condition. The first thing I'm going to teach my students in Economics is to evaluate the Marginal Cost and Benefit of the latest edition, think about the opportunity cost of what they could do with the extra $250, and act as rational economic agents. Let's put our theory to practice, fellow Economists!
