These directives are not limited to Catholics but to any in a Catholic hospital. One directive orders that artificial fluids and nutrition shall not be withheld even from those in a persistent vegetative state. With the high percentage of hospital beds now under the auspices of the Catholic Church, and with hospitals not openly declaring their philosophies to patients or potential patients, this is information all people should be aware of. Most important of the many many directives are those for pregnant women and those who are terminally ill.
