Le Marche does not enjoy having a vast number of travel planning guides available, but is fortunate to have this guide from TCI.
The book is organized into a series (12, in all) of "excursions". Detailed maps provide the exact routes, and the text illuminates the things to see along them. Maps of the larger villages and cities are also provided, as are floor plans of the most important buildings.
As has been the case with every TCI publication we have had, the the text is well-written and informative -- without being overly wordy. Various type of highlighting help rank the importance of various entities. A section, organized by city, at the end of the book contains lodging information (e.g., hotels, historic accommodations, farm holidays, B&Bs), restaurant information (e.g., restaurants, cafes), additional places to visit, fairs and events, local products, and other useful information.
We also have "The Blue Guide" for Le Marche Blue Guide The Marche, First Edition. While it contains much more text, it does not contain a sufficient number of maps. Fortunately we have the TCI "Umbria and Marche" map (evidently not available from Amazon).
There are very few books available that specifically address the Marche area but this is one super book that has it all. It contains a logical flow, had detailed maps, an excellent index, provides history and current information and, offers specifics on Where to Stay, Where to Eat and What is a Must to see. Well worth the money. This is a book for the backpack when in the Marche region
