This selection of arias, mostly solos and duets from five of Puccini's great operas (and their excellent chorus), brings fine recordings from the masters of the decades. Running from approx. 50 to over 70 minutes apiece, there is a continuous stream of outstanding performances by some of the best singers of their day. Like Luciano Pavarotti and Mirella Freni in "Manon Lescaut" or "La Bohème's" José Carreras and Katia Ricciarelli. And "Madama Butterfly" with Renata Tebaldi. Accompanied by several accomplished orchestras, this 5-CD set will fill the air with a little bit of "heaven." Recommended.
