Li-Ion Battery Issues with returns from overseas.
on February 14, 2018
This was not clearly advertised and as such was unsuitable for my needs - I wanted to hook up to my computer to use Dragon voice recognition and answer calls from my VOIP softphone.
Plantronics help desk say an adaptor is required. APU75 with a rrp of $76 US (available on amazon for $44US). Plantronics would not give assurance of the suitability of the CS510 for Dragon voice recognition software. Nuance no longer lists suitable /preferred headsets as it once did.
(FYI AMAZON I saw other comments saying that the CS510 + APU 75 had issues)
So I went to return it and purchase a wired headphone(again Plantronics but much cheaper and with positive comments referencing Dragon - i don't give up easily !).
My return package to Amazon US posted on Tuesday arrived at my door today Thursday !!! NZ post mistake - They read my from address as the delivery address (Brilliant).
On trying again at NZ Post they said this was the second package error today ! It was only lunchtime too. Amazon take note - your labels are not idiot proofed. I thought the cost too cheap at the time. This time the package was identified as containing Li-Ion batteries as per Amazon instructions and would have to go express at a cost of $89.26 kiwi dollars. More than the outward journey by far.
At that point I cancelled the return. No point in turning a $300 Kiwi mistake into a $400 Kiwi mistake.
I learned that i won't be buying anything expensive or containing Li-Ion from Amazon. NB Amazon maybe you need to identify your items with Li-Ion up front.
In fact I've learned it's much easier to buy from my local Chinese importer which I will be doing in future. I value my time.
Anyone in NZ want to buy an unused CS510 headset ?
