While pure escapism, it is a great concept, loved the characters of Sam and Blake but especially Sam! The dialogue is snappy and sometimes snarky. The sexual tension was there from the moment the H and h met and beautifully conveyed. The sex scenes were sizzling and wished there were more of them. Over all I rate the story itself at 3.5 and assign a sexy rating of 4. I am definately intrested in reading more in this series!

Wife by Wednesday was an okay book. The story was good, and it started out nicely, but everything just happened way too fast. There was not a lot of character development or storyline development. Every time there was a conflict, it was resolved within a few pages. The characters didn't have much of an inner monologue, so I was only vaguely aware of what they were thinking. There would be mentions of some "secret" but the secrets never got revealed. I'm still not entirely sure what Sam's dad did exactly to go to jail.

Overall, I would prefer more pages for this story to have covered, just to get some depth to the characters. It went from *spoiler alert* "I don't know you but you seem like a good person to marry" to sexual tension to now they have a baby???

I was not satisfied after finishing this book, but the story line was decent.

*A true romance and very entertaining love story by author Catherine Bybee in book 1 of the Weekday Brides Series.............As Blake Harrison complained to his best friend Carter Billings, of finding a wife right away in order to get his inheritance, he was never more serious in his life as he was about to meet a man by the name of Sam Elliott, owner of an elite but very successful matchmaking company known as Alliance. Since it was Monday, he needed to be married by Wednesday as in the provisions of his grandfather's will if he ever wanted to collect three hundred million dollars before his thirty-sixth birthday which was exactly the same Wednesday in question. Already a multi-millionaire by owning one of the most largest shipping companies in the world, Blake wasn't looking for love or a wife since he intended to be divorced in due time once the scam was over. He was rich, handsome and he loved the single life, especially being with of all types women but at the moment, he was willing to play the devoted husband, retrieve his millions and claim title of Duke back in England, the country where he was born in. When Blake entered the meeting place to meet Sam Elliot, he didn't see any man at all, instead he heard one of the most sexiest and sultry voices he ever heard, "you're late". Enter beautiful Samantha "Sam" Elliot with gorgeous auburn hair, luscious green eyes and a figure most men would kill for and the intelligence to go with it. As Owner of Alliance, Sam also ran a tight ship of taking only special cases such as this one with a high regard of totally confidentiality as she showed Blake all future prospects of beautiful brides with the stipulation that it would end in divorce in one year's time. Of course Blake Harrison had other ideas when he decided to do his own background check on the beautiful Miss Elliot only to discover that she had a sister Jordan in a rest home from being in a car accident and the medical bills were mounting up day by day. With a plan in motion, as he met with Sam a second time, his decision was made and he knew, without a doubt who his future wife was going to be.......Sam herself! Agreeing to pay all Jordan's medical bills not to mention a sizable fee for Alliance, Sam agrees and soon after they are married. There was only one problem Sam never expected to fall in love. As her life takes a ninety degree turn by a unknown stalker, Blake realizes the whole scam is falling apart when his own emotions are in turmoil as he tries desperately to deal with two problems. Find the stalker, protect his green-eyed beauty because for the first time in his life....love is in the air!...........thank you♡♡

This is the first book I have read/listen to by this author it will not be the last. There was nothing I didn't like, the author gave a compelling story of power, needs, wants, pain, trust, honor as we are reminded that things are not always as they seem. I thought the author sent a powerful message along with a wonderful plot.

Two people come together in an arranged marriage so both can come out ahead. For Samantha she just wanted to be able to take care of her sisters needs. Samantha was a wonderful caring, loving, compassionate character. She looked out and helped so many, is it any wonder why everyone around her fell in love with her. She had lost so much in a short time no one can blame her for getting married for money when it was done for the love of her sister. She is a very strong stubborn women who believes on standing on her own, she lets her actions speak for her but gives so much of herself.

Blake is powerful but caring and will not give up the money for family reason. No he doesn't need it but his mother and sister do. He might be an alpha male but he is a compassionate one to those he loves. He is rich due to his hard work not what his father left him. He spent his life proving to his father he could stand on his own and make something of his self. His father isn't willing to let go not even in death, his father must have control.

One things leads to another and these two are in over their heads. Things were done and said that might tear them apart before they can work out how they really feel about each other. To many hands in the pot stirring up a mess of trouble for any good to come of this.

I thought this was a wonderful plot, the author gives you a page turner that you can't put down. The narrator brings that story to life in a way that keeps you hanging on to each word. The author gives the read mystery that you do not see coming, she puts just enough twists and turns to keep you interested and before you know it with the narrator you are done and left wanting more from both the author and the narrator. I enjoy a humorous read with meaning which I felt the author gave you. In my book this was more than a 5 star read. I would have liked to have known what happen to the people behind the scam and if anything happen to the firm in question. In no way does this take away from the story just something I would have liked to have known.

Sometimes when we try to out smart people it comes back to bite us as Samantha and Blake found out. I can relate to the characters in this book family should mean more than anything to us as these wonderful characters showed us. Yes they came out ahead if things go as planned but they never thought of their selves just of their families needs. I feel sure if I was in either ones of their shoes I very well would have done the same thing. To make sure your family is taken care of without hurting others I could see a lot of people following along in their shoes. I found this story to be very believable with wonderful caring characters. I will be checking out more books by this author and expect she will be added to my favorite author's list very soon.

This was my first book that I have ever read by Catherine Bybee. I was fortunate enough to meet her at a book signing and came to find her to be a hilarious and inspirational author. She seemed to want to help give tips and advise to the other authors at the signing. She was so down to earth. What made me initially start to read this book the cover grabbed me first. That is how I decide to read a book first that cover must grab me and give me a idea what the book will be about and intrigue me. Blurbs are wasted on me because I have never read one in the whole time I started reading as a child. The characters were so well developed and they had such a three dimensional quality you could almost forget that you were reading a book and believe that Sam and Blake were your friends and not characters. Yes their marriage arrangement may have started alittle unconventional but as the story develops you see that these two characters fully loved one another afraid to admit to one another because they didn't know how it would affect their contractual marriage. I can't wait to read more in this series I have been totally hooked on them and Mrs. Bybee has captured a new fan for along time to come. I highly recommend this series and once I am done with this series I will definitely be moving on to her other series.

Vikki’s Musings

This is the first book I have read by Catherine Bybee, but it will not be the last. After reading Wife by Wednesday, I plan to read/listen to the other books in this story. It is available through Kindle-Unlimited and the audio version is only $1.99, a great bargain!

I found Wife by Wednesday a delightful light-hearted read with an interesting plot. I fell in love with the characters and really wanted them to achieve their happy ending. The pacing is excellent, making it an enjoyable romance.

Sam is an awesome heroine, and I fell in love with her right away. She is an independent woman and determined to make her business a success. She has a tragic backstory that pulled at my heartstrings. Her willingness to sacrifice so much for her sister had me completely vested in her character.

Blake Harrison is an interesting hero. At first, he comes across as arrogant and unemotional, only interested in finding a wife to fulfill his father’s will, but he is amazed by the attraction he feels for the matchmaker. I loved how he switches from a player to a man intent on securing Sam’s love.

The chemistry is sizzling between Blake and Samantha from the first meeting and only grows stronger as the story unfolds. I loved the back and forth dialogue between them which added greatly to the sexual tension.

The only thing I would suggest to Ms. Bybee is to study the British peerage at a bit. A duke is never a lord and his surname is his title, not his family name. He would be Blake, the Duke of Albany, and would be addressed as Duke or His Grace. Nonetheless, this did not take away from my reading enjoyment.

If you are looking for a light read with enchanting characters and a unique plot, then you will love Wife by Wednesday as much as I did. I can’t wait to read the next book in this great series. Happy reading!

This romance novel caught my attention from the first few pages and I couldn't put it down. Samantha Elliot is a matchmaker for an elite clientele of successful men looking for beautiful sophisticated wives. She is just getting her business off the ground when she is hired by a wealthy and handsome man named Blake Harrison. Blake needs to get married right away in order to obtain possession of his dead father's estate in England. Instead of marrying one of the eligible women Samantha has picked out for him, he decides Samantha is the right person to play the role of his wife.

I liked both of the main characters. Blake is described as a promiscuous man who hasn't become strongly attached to any of the women he's been with. A dysfunctional relationship with his parents resulted in some obvious intimacy issues, but he's always respectful and considerate of Samantha's feelings throughout their marriage. He never comes across as a jerk or a prick. Samantha has her own sordid past that makes it difficult for her to trust men, but she is a deeply caring person.

The sizzling chemistry between Samantha and Blake leaps off the page. The sexual attraction between them builds until it finally boils over. Even though a few obstacles are thrown in their path to add drama and suspense to the story, readers still get the happy ending that is expected in romance novels. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the books in the Weekday Brides Series.

The relationshp between Blake and Sam began as a completely business arrangement. A marriage of convenience. And initially Sam wasn't to be the bride of convenience.

To keep the plot/romance moving along, that fact was quickly dealt with and we are off to the proverbial races with a quick marriage between our hero and heroine.

Of course, events conspire to require them to spend more time together than they'd originally planned - and they also soon realized they LIKED spending time together.

And so began a lovely romance. They were open and honest with each other, although there was with one significant exception that created the obligatory misunderstanding. However, this was not overdone and quickly resolved. (SPOILER: this was done in a very satisfying way which saw the viper of the other woman gaining her comeuppance!.)

I believed in them as a couple, and in their HEA. They brought out the best in each other, and helped heal old wounds.

Just a pleasant way to spend a few hours.

A wonderful romance story I loved it.
Blake Harrison rich, handsome and is a duke. He needs a wife to to receive his inheritance but deep down he does not want a wife.
Enter Samantha Eliot. She is beautiful, smart and sassy and she can help with what Blake needs. Blake and Samantha make a deal, they have covered all their bases except one. They did not expect to fall in love.
This was an easy, heart warming, romantic, fun, smexy hot story and I loved every minute of it.
Looking forward to reading the next in this series. Carter and Eliza....mmmmm sounds yummy!!!

I actually read this series completely out of order- blame it on me not playing attention to the subtitle with BOOK 1 and insisting that Monday comes before Wednesday so obviously Married by Monday was first.. uhmm no.. ha! So I am just issuing this disclaimer so you will realize that I already knew that Sam & Blake would hook up and how the book would end before I even started it.

For some reason, I have always loved books about marriages for convenience. I just love that two people get together for whatever reason and end up falling in love. It's magical. Catherine did not disappoint with this one!

My absolute favorite sub-genre of romance is Historical Romance and Catherine managed to bring all that I loved - castles, Dukes, Duchesses to the contemporary time. Yes, I wanted to be a Duchess growing up.. Princesses are too rare, marry a Duke instead!

Blake is what we all dream of - a self-made millionaire, who also happens to be a Duke along with all that entitles. He needs a marriage in-name-only without "emotion clogging up something as important as a marriage agreement". This is where Sam comes in..

Samantha (Sam) is a matchmaker for the rich. She has an exclusive and discreet service to match rich men who need a wife in-name-only for one reason or another. Although she has ideas of who to match with Blake, he has decided that he wants her instead.

Catherine (don't you love how I'm on a first name basis with the author.. ha!) writes a quick read - a story line that moves along with no pauses, great characters that you grow to love and want to know more about, awesome supporting characters that you can't help but wonder who will get their story told next, and steamy sex scenes that are just what the Dr ordered.

My only complaint (you know I'm going to have one) is that Wife by Wednesday isn't long enough. It's 188 pages (the rest are an excerpt of Not Quite Mine). While 188 pages of pure romance and laughter is fine and great - I always want more... Thank goodness each and every book in the series afterwards keep getting just a little thicker.. a little longer ! This was a great start to an awesome series!

5 Stars
