If Star Wars lights up the fire in your imagination, then this book helps throws logs onto it to keep imagination burning.

Star Wars – The Jedi path by Daniel Wallace, is a book that seeks out to supplant the Star Wars Universe with additional information for fans of all types.

Woven within the pages of the book are the many intricacies that are required by those fascinated by the Jedi Path.

Although notably a quick read, the book contains rather detailed and quite in-depth information regarding all aspects of the Jedi Order.

Not only does the book do an adequate job of introducing the reader to the Jedi Order, but it also heads deeper than that.

From there the book goes on to break down the Jedi Order into its various parts: Initiates, Padawans, and Jedi Knights. Within each of these sections a further breakdown is carried out outlining many of the details that are needed in order to progress towards the next stage.

Another intriguing component of the book is the fact that the book takes you through the history of who owned it as it was passed down from Master to Padawan [Master Yoda, Dooku, Qui-Gon Jinn, Ahsoka Tano, etc.] and when that took place. Additionally, sprinkled throughout the book are small annotations where each of these characters input their insights and commentary. It definitely adds a rather unique and authentic flavor to the book seeing each of the personalities of these characters shine through, or hint at darker elements, such as comments by Anakin.

Compellingly written, the author does a brilliant job of bringing authenticity to the Jedi Universe in a way that any serious fan would appreciate.

Further information contained within the book are what the Three Pillars Of The Jedi are, information on lightsaber use and techniques, the various types of Jedi Knights, some history, and much more. Even the importance of meditation within the Jedi discipline is mentioned in various instances, which was kind of interesting since it echoes the sentiments of Eastern Philosophy and many Martial Arts.

In sum, if you know someone that’s a Star Wars fan, and is interested in a deeper layer of the Jedis, then this book is definitely a great read.

I lost my desire for little collectible doodads and tchotchkes many years ago. So, while I thought some of the things that came with the book in the full "vault" edition we kind of cool (like the map), overall, I am fine with not having them. The real draw is the book, and that is where the entertainment lies. I thought reading through the book was very interesting, and I LOVE that they included notes from Ahsoka in the book (she being my current favorite character ever created in the Star Wars universe, closely followed by Mara Jade and Jaina Solo). It was interesting getting some formal information on the structure of the Jedi order, and the thoughts from many notable Jedi. Some of the notes in the book stretch belief (why would Anakin leave the book to Ahsoka, knowing the incriminating stuff he left in the book, and why would Sidious write in it at all?) -- and I wish they had made at least SOME parts of the prophecy legible, it was disappointing that that was either ripped out or redacted (depending on the edition of book you get).

But, overall, the book was a very enjoyable read. It would have been very dry, very boring reading without the annotations, but WITH the annotations, especially as they are with each generation commenting for themselves, and also responding the generations before them -- it is QUITE interesting.

4 stars :)

This is amazingly awesome. I purchased it as a wedding gift for an Uber Star Wars nerd. He said it was THE best wedding gift, ever. I am so tempted or order one for myself. It's well packaged, it looks amazing, and it has the ability of making a grown bearded man to squeal like a 5-year old girl with delight.

This book is by far the most interesting piece of Star Wars memorabilia I've ever encountered. The book itself is superbly designed and it's look and feel really show the thought and time that LucasArts put into it.

Let's start with the packaging. This book could not have been presented better. After removing the 'vault' case from the beautiful black outer box, you are greeted with the sleek silver doors. On these doors are engraved an image of two hands gripping the hilt of a lit lightsaber, which will automatically get those Jedi juices flowing.

The very next thing your eyes will be drawn to is the black button that activates the whole thing. Press the button, and you'll be treated to a wonderful buffet of sounds from the Star Wars universe as the book itself is lifted on it's platform and the doors sweep out to each side. No star wars fan could ask for a better presentation of this book, and it's that presentation experience that adds to the cost (and fun factor!) of the book.

Now for the book itself (NO SPOILERS!). The cover is soft teal leather embossed with the symbol of the Jedi Order and is of very good quality. Inside, the book is gorgeously illustrated and is a very good for reading or just browsing through. The text of the book written very well and is very much a 'love letter', of sorts, to Star Wars fans (the author himself is an avid Star Wars fan). Suffice it to say that the value of this book is the insights each fan will get into the culture of the Jedi before the rise of the Empire. Much is known about the few individual Jedi seen in the movies, but here, we see a tantalizing glimpse of the culture that they grew up with and lived in.

The thing that puts this puts this book over the top (and what makes it more of an 'experience' than anything else!) is the 'extras' folded into the book's pages by it's various owners. There are quotes from each owner on each section of the book that really let you get inside their heads, and a few owners (I won't say which) left behind some 'relics' in between the pages. Each relic is unique and adds a very personal flavor to the 'experience' that is this book.

Overall, I have to say that this book is an absolute must-have for casual fans and collectors alike. It's fun factor is just off the charts, and there is simply no down side to it. Some may say that sixty plus dollars is way too much for a book, but trust me, you'll get a whole lot of bang your your buck! Hope this helps!!!!

I'm a Star Wars fan, but I'm far more interested in the history of the Sith and Jedi than I am of the movies and post movies EU. This little book gives nice details into how the Jedi came to be, as well as instruction on all the Lightsaber forms, Force sensitive animals and the different sects of Jedi culture.

I play Star Wars the Old Republic so seeing information on Juyo form, reading about traditional Jedi Sentinels and Shadows was great when paired with the lore I had already learned in game.

Many of the famous Jedi from Lucas-verse (G-canon) contribute asides, ideas and reactions in the margins of the book. Fun little glimpses into the minds of likes of Yoda, Ahsoka and Sidious give Luke Skywalker (the current owner of the book) a basis for which to base his New Jedi Order on.

Its a short read, too short in my opinion. Many old Masters refer to people and events in their written lectures and never expand on them. As someone more interested in history and lore rather than action it was a little disappointing.

Fun book for a collector, I learned a lot of the old ways of being a Jedi and felt like Luke was learning along side me.

After reading The Jedi Path, I am a Daniel Wallace fan!! This book is the first in a four part series of brilliantly written, illustrated, and entertaining books. If you are looking for the perfect gift for a Star Wars fan who tends to collect figures but hasn't expanded into book collecting, then this is a must have! This hardcover book is made with a heavy quality paper which brings colorful graphic novel style illustrations to life. The book is a guide teaching all one needs to know about becoming a Jedi, including how to design and make a lightsaber, what distinguishes a Padawan Learner from a Jedi Knight, and what separates a Jedi Knight from a Jedi Master. Readers will learn how to use the Force to connect with other living things such as plants and animals. A great deal of thought went into the creation of this book. Readers will also laugh aloud reading the comments of Star Wars characters who previously read the book and left comments: Anakin, Luke, Yoda, Ahsoka Tano--to name a few. It is such a great read, you will want to collect the Book of Sith, The Bounty Hunter Code, and Imperial Handbook. There is technical information which I feel helps fans understand the Star Wars universe in ways other books may not. Prepare to have all of your questions answered!

A well planned and thought out book and makes you wonder whether it was taken out of the Star Wars Universe intentionally. The commentary and views of other jedi is top notch and exquisitely detailed. The illustrations look great and heck i would even go as far to say that this book should be used for a real life jedi course.

I bought this and 2 other Star Wars books to give to my son for his ninth birthday next month. These books are to given in conjunction with Star Wars Lego. My hope is he'll put down the iPad and use his brain. I'll update this review after he receives this gift. That's when I can give a real review. Here's hoping my brain utilizing theory works.

Really nice to get an inside view into the SW universe. This book is more geared for the lore fans. If you're a casual SW fan, you might not appreciate this as much. However, if you are just a casual fan who wants to get a deeper insight into things, then this will be for you.

I'm not going to review the content. If you're a fan of Star Wars or Zen-type concepts, you'll like this book.

I will however offer a couple of warnings. First, if you purchase this book on Kindle for iPad, it will lock in portrait mode. You cannot read it in landscape. That's a bit of a hassle if you're reading and charging at the same time. Second, if you want to read this on Surface or any other Win8/WinRT tablet, you're out of luck. "This title is not available on Kindle for Windows 8," is the error you'll be greeted with.

I know these are small quibbles and may only affect a small slice of the people who buy the book. But think about it; this book is set in a universe where all knowledge is stored in holographic data banks. Do you think they had software issues/DRM in a galaxy far, far away?
