As a criminal defense lawyer for more than thirty years, I highly recommend this book to all; but especially to trial lawyers. The practice of law can be an easy road to apathy. Lawyers must endure the wrath of the court, the prosecutors, the victims, and even the community in which they live. Our role is essential to preserving the constitutional rights we so cherish, but this is often forgotten until someone is in need of our services. This book not only gives an inside look at the practice of law, but serves as an inspiration to the battle worn lawyers who may not have the time to remember that we are here to seek justice.

Better than Grisham, this beautifully written legal procedural gets everything right from legal details to colorful characters that you absolutely believe. First day on your first job in the crowded legal profession that has no room for you? It gets worse. Your new boss is closely associated to the Russian mob and deeply cynical. His best advice to his new employee is to not attract the attention of the Bar Association.

On day two, after losing his first case, a traffic ticket, he's handed a promotion and a murder case. The murderer is a young woman who killed the man who brutally murdered her five year old daughter. The DA is up for election and a bit of a killer himself since he's pressing for the death penalty and won't settle for less than aggravated murder.

Not since The Lincoln Lawyer has there been such an interesting legal guy to hang out with. I hope he makes another appearance before the court.

No need to rehash all the good reviews. This was a fast paced novel that gives me yet some hope in the justice system, such as it is. As we all know, what we have as a judiciary system is not fair, just, or merciful but its better than any other country has and for that we can thank our prescient Founding Fathers, who knew that, in time, the system would be corrupted by the wealthy and famous who can afford to pay to play--not to mention the "souless" proscecutors who have hardened over time or want to use their office as a stepping stone to higher agendas.

Methos produced a quick easy enjoyable read, bringing forth issues of The Rule of Law that are killing our justice system at this very moment.
Candidates running for high offices who have committed so many crimes that it becomes laughable that we should claim our country is run by the Rule of Law. I would hope as Methos continues to write he will take more time to flesh his characters out a bit more. Bravo.... Keep on writing, I think you have a grand following of readers!!!!

I have been a legal secretary for many years and some of the facts in this case about "baby" lawyers is so right on the mark. there is more injustice in the system than justice. interesting reading.

I only put the book down to eat dinner, because my wife insisted! I could not otherwise put it down! The plot is outstanding! Characters are real, with flaws as well as strong values. You care about what is happening! If you liked 'Mr. Smith Goes To Washington', or any of the best by Grisham, you will love The Neon Lawyer!
This is what a novel is supposed to be- a look at how things should be. You will feel good, like you have achieved something, because your sense of rightness with the world will be elevated. Your head will be held a bit higher. You will have a smile on your face and in your heart. This story hits home!

A very simplistic book, but yet a lot of fun to read. There is nothing complicated here. A story of a young lawyer dumped into a capital murder case and how he handles it. Some things seem to happen too simply (no one is this lucky with jobs/women/cases/etc). But the main character is a likable guy. I hope there are more stories with him, but built with more complexity. You could see every next move coming. There was not one, and I mean not one, single "surprise" in this book. I guarantee that you can predict the overall plot line and the ending after the first few chapters. Again, it was fun to read, so don't get me wrong. But as legal "thrillers" go, this was about 6th grade level. This was not a thriller. It was pleasant story.

I love Grisham's books and will continue doing so, but watch out for this author...! I couldn't truly stop reading this book and that doesn't happen! Trust me it doesn't. Cant hardly wait to finish this review and go to the kindle store and search for the next book from the same author, whom I don't remember his name ( shame on me or senior moment?)

I read this book on a flight that must have been unremarkable because I don't remember anything about it given that I was engrossed in reading. Although some characters felt glossed over (Tommy was larger than life but short on substance) the main character was well developed and believable. Definitely worth a read. I look forward to reading other works by this author.

I enjoy legal thrillers, so I took advantage of a recent offer to download this to my Kindle. I'm not sure if it was shorter than some other novels, or if I just kept returning to it so I could find out how the trial was going to come out, but in either case, I finished it in a couple of days. I found it to be a good read, despite a few of the author's feelings about the justice system coming through in the end.

A fan of political suspense, I was excited to see that this book was only $1.99 for my Kindle for iPad. Now I know why. The story is about a rookie lawyer in Utah named Brigham Theodore (should have known upon reading the name of the main character that this book would be disappointing). He lands a job in a small, shady law firm and gets assigned a highly-publicized murder trial. Mind you, this is his second case, the first one was a DUI and he lost that one.

I worked in the legal profession early in my career so I know a bit about how law firms work. And the way the story ran didn't follow any of that. Um, think about the malpractice potential here to allow a brand new lawyer to take on a capital murder case! Just doesn't happen. Unbelievable storyline #1: no second chair lawyer and while one of the firm's attorneys occasionally attends court to watch the proceedings, she doesn't sit at the defendant's table. Unbelievable storyline #2: Brigham chooses not to question any jury members. Huh? Unbelievable storyline #3: after the verdict, the lawyers just walk out without ANY mention of an appeal. I'm pretty sure the losing party would automatically mention appealing the verdict.

Might be an OK book if the author addressed these inconsistencies. But he did not. The plot line had a lot more potential than was addressed here. I'm actually disappointed because this book could have been so much more.
