This worked for a couple of days. It stopped, so I tried changing the batteries... now I can not even discover it with my phone.

Easy to install but the Bluetooth function does not work well. Phone has to be shut down and restarted to get it to function. Will probably send it back if I can't get through this issue. Would have rather had a small remote with it,

I gave this four stars due to basically accomplishing what I wanted, even if I was a bit disappointed. I have downgraded it to 'two stars', because the color of the Switchmate clearly DOES NOT match the description.... it is "WHITE" not Ivory. Feel free to see the attached pictures.
GOOD:
It accomplished what I wanted it to – turn on the lights by my garage door. either with the smartphone or a timer.
BAD:
Bluetooth range is quite minimal – about 50 feet line of site, and 10 feet (line of site) through a house window. Should be more, I thought.
The switch that was delivered was the wrong color. (NOT AMAZON’S FAULT, is manufacturer’s fault.) I ordered “IVORY” and they sent “WHITE”. Box said “IVORY”. Manufacturer problem. I e-mailed them with pictures and await what they’ll do.
Timers work but are a bit bulky to set up.
GOOD:
It accomplished what I wanted it to – turn on the lights by my garage door, either with the smartphone or a timer. As mentioned, to turn the lights on I have to be very close. I won’t have to go outside to the garage, so that is good.
UPDATES?:
It will be nice when the product is updated to wifi. They won’t update old devices, so I’ll limit myself on purchasing these.

Rather than acknowledge the one they shipped was 'WHITE' NOT 'IVORY' I can only guess THEY DO NOT CARE.

I ordered this product to use as a timer while I was on vacation. The timer worked perfect the first day, but didn't turn on the rest of the week. I emailed the company multiple times and got nothing back.

Very unreliable device. I bought four of these and instead of fighting them I should have returned them. All four have lost/forgotten their program and needed to be re-paired with my cell phones and re-programmed. The programming once completed is stored in the switchmate only and forgotten by the Android Note 4 that I programmed them with. While programming, the device does allow "Sunset" or "Sunrise" as a time but once chosen, the devices software does not continue to re-calculate Sunrise and Sunset but freezes the time at Sunset / Sunrise on the day you programmed it. How dumb is that!
Changing batteries requires re-programing and if you have more thant one device that is programmed/paired then you need to re=pair with each device.

Purchased product for the timer function. Timer does not consistently work.

Nope. Just like several others it worked for 2 weeks and now says it is busy. It still works nicely as a tap switch but no timer, no remote, no real point to it. Waste of money.
NOT WORTH A DIME, company does not stand by their product refused refund on 4 i bought at one time. Read my review....

DO NOT TRUST THIS. DO NOT BUY THIS. My son had one from about 4 mts ago he loved, it worked GREAT. It worked from all over the dang house. The 4 we bought sucked.... you had to be virtually on top of the stupid things for them to work. My son spent hours trying to find ways to make them work.
Sure they were probably defective, but would the company stand by them and give us a refund - NO, now I am having to bring Amazon into it to get my money back.
IN THEORY, like with my son's, these work great, BUT ONLY if you get some that aren't DEFECTIVE.

I've had this now for over a month without any major issues. It works as advertised on my flat rocker type wall switches.
As others have stated the motor sound for the brief moment a switch action happens is noticeable. But for the cost and install simplicity of this unit I don't think it's a significant issue.
With my iOS devices the app will occasionally not detect my wall switches. The quick fix I've found is to swipe away the switchmate app to fully close it and then reopen it. It has reconnected to my switch right away every time.
Another minor issue I overcame was when trying to set up a switch on multiple mobile devises. Doing this won't work unless the switch name and type options are set identically on all mobile devices when adding it in the app. If this isn't done you probably will get the annoying "this switch has been reset by another device.." connection error. I've added a switch to 3 iOS devises this way.
