Another great Urban Fantasy series starter. I read Magic Hunter over the weekend, and I loved it. It was so full of action, I don't think it ever slowed down. The hits just kept coming, one right after another. I was completely engaged in this story from page one to the bitter-sweet end.

Rosalind is training to be a member of the Brotherhood. Her mission in life is to kill demons to save the lives of people, in between college classes and pining away for her ex-boyfriend. Then Caine shows up and contradicts everything she believes, everything she's ever been taught. Who is Caine, you ask? Oh, he's just a Shadow Mage with healing powers. And an incubus. And a hot-as-hell leader of the vampire army.

“Is it just me, or are you two awfully fond of ‘healing’ each other? You know, you could just shag like normal people and not subject yourself to broken bones first.”

The story line of this book was excellent. The characters were well-written and complex. I loved how the tension kept building and building between Rosalind and Caine, and I'm looking forward to reading the next book in this series to see their relationship grow even more. I really like how their relationship has been very gradual and even kind of back and forth so far. Even though he's super sexy, and she has plenty of opportunities of go for it, we get this kind of slow burn thing going, and it makes me eager for more!

Book 1 of The Vampire Mage series.

Looking for a new book to read, this was in my suggested list on Amazon. Always a lover of good vampire, magic, or supernatural stories, the good rating got me to look at the book. After reading the blurb and a few reviews I added it to my shelf.

The cast of characters revolves around Rosalind, a supernatural hunter whose life is about to turned upside down, and Caine, a very complex character that isn't just a mage and has a few secrets.

Rosalind's actions through most of the book are heavily influenced by the people around her and events that she has suffered during her young life. At times those characteristics can be annoying, but they usually serve the purpose of moving her and the story along. I would have liked to see some more growth from her but to be fair this story takes place during a very short time frame.

I found myself drawn more towards Caine throughout the story. Thinking back on the story, I think it was because he was the most complex character with a more interesting background. We learn or get hints about his background, whereas with Rosalind, we're told her past but the details are sketchy. I would have like to gotten more about life in the Brotherhood, outside of the obvious details that pertain to the story.

At times it was a riveting read that kept me turning pages to see how things turned out. I finished the book quickly and checked to see if there was more available which, fortunately, there is.

Readers will enjoy the story and it's hard to imagine that the fan base won't grow steadily.

I just finished this latest book from CN Crawford and I absolutely loved it!! I can't wait for the next installment. I fell in love with the characters and the story line. It's easy to see the parallels with other belief systems and how we shouldn't just blindly follow along without asking why. It's an empowering story that's easy to get lost in.

Great start to a series. Definitely kept my attention and I liked the book enough to immediately look for the next one. I'm generally pretty careful about purchasing books if the full series isn't out as I've been frustrated with long wait times before (not from this author). I sincerely hope C.N. Crawford keeps the release timing mentioned in the description of this book.

A supernatural world with good and evil, but it's a bit tricky telling which side is really which. The two main characters, Rosalind and Caine, have a shared past to uncover while they determine their present. Looking forward to reading more in the series.

It was OK. The lead whines about everything that goes wrong. Towards the end she was getting better. Hopefully in book 2 she gets better

Ok, liked the storyline, liked the world, but the characters were boring. The incubi Mage is cocky and arrogant, and while right about who the real bad guys are, never sees the bad in his side either. The main character is a good fighter but an ignorant airhead. Her best friend isn't much better. They fight to release prisoners but also release killers and don't have a worry about it. They anger powerful demons but those enemies just disappear as the story goes on. Sorry, this could have been so much better if the author worked with characterization and gave use some deepens to them.

SPOILER FREE REVIEW!

I am happy to say that I loved this book, and immediately fell in love with both Rosalind and Cain.
That being said if you are looking for an urban fantasy, or a paranormal book that shows people not to believe everything they are told right away and that there are always two sides to a story; while also including a battle between the paranormal community, and hunters then give this book a shot. That is not all this story is about. This book is also about redemption, righting wrongs, but at the same time saving people who don't deserve to be treated badly. It is a fight for justice! Throw in a little comedy here and there along with a somewhat romantic connection, and you have yourself a winner.

The reason I like Rosalind is because she tries to find the good in just about everything, although when it comes to losing what she knows best she in the end realises that maybe leaving that part of her life behind is a lot better for her; instead of feeding into endless lies she chooses truth instead. Note, it can be really hard for someone to leave behind all that they have known for years of their life which is why I am glad that it was made out to be that way, because it made the story so much more realistic for me, because it wasn't all dandelions and candy bars. It was actually raw and real for me. For me that was perfect, because not only do I crave time away from real life to indulge in a good book, but I also crave for the book to become completely believable and real in my mind as well, and this book did exactly that.

This book does have some extreme violence, but no extreme sexual situations in it.
