I liked the premise of the story, but I found it very difficult to keep all the characters straight. The family history was very confusing, and the old letters didn't help. I realize family trees are very important to some people, but I can't see getting so upset about what a great-great grandparent might have done. Dr. Flo is a great character and I would like to see more of her. The other characters are rather bland--typical??rich white southerners whose biggest worry is what type of lamps to buy for the home office. The relationship between the main character and her 'best friend' made me uncomfortable. Her husband appearing at the end of the book seems rather contrived, as if the author is saying, "See, they aren't having affairs with other people." These are the people who read and live the Southern Living lifestyle.

Mostly First person narration, but she also quotes other characters and reveals their thoughts. She does keep returning to the point of view of the mystery solver. Katherine goes to an island off the coast of a southern state to help a friend, learns more and more secrets that some are willing to kill to keep quiet. Information on old abandoned graveyards, she always teaches you something about genealogy or family history. She always keeps you guessing up until the end then surprises you. Very entertaining while a fast read.

The story was exciting and suspenseful. Highly recommend it - after they make all the editorial corrections I submitted. So many typos and grammatical errors. The most irritating was the mentions of Dr. Flo, as "Dr. Ho". She was written correctly enough times that all the errors cannot be chalked up to be a "computer glitch." I'm glad I learned how to use the Kindle feature to submit corrections, but that took a LOT of otherwise pleasurable reading time.

The genealogy mysteries are great to read. They keep you guessing right to the end. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves the thrill of the hunt and the resolve of the family mystery.

The book was ok and the characters were alright. My main gripe was the numerous typos. Dr. Flo was called Dr. Ho over a dozen times. Dates were stated as l889 instead of 1889. Someone should be editing for these errors before the book is offered for sale.

This is better than book one but there are many typos in the script that came very distracting. It's a little bit wordy and too descriptive in some areas. But a very good plot. I'll check out the next book in this series.

All anyone talked about was how much danger they were in & yet, were any of their decisions based on that . the answer is no & there lies the frustration of this book. Great premise, fascinating history yet... scratching my head at actions taken by supposedly smart women.

I like how Patricia Sprinkle writes! Her stories are absorbing and delightfully southern. My only complaint is that the kindle version is full of spelling errors and mistakes.
