BIG BAD WOLF, now old and residing in the Villain Villa Senior Center, is invited to a tea by a children's librarian. His best friend, a toothsome crocodile, warns him that he will have to mind his manners. B. B. Wolf makes up a song: "Sip your tea and never slurp, say 'excuse me' if you burp. A Must-Have for the Home Library

This book is fantastic. I'll admit my daughter is not quite three, but she loves this book with a passion and requests it many times a day (we probably both have it memorized). It is fairly low on text-picture ratio (one of the reasons it is good for a young child, and also why I don't mind reading it so often) and the pictures are captivating.

There are so many little pictorial jokes sprinkled throughout the book, so for a parent (or older child) there is some subtler humor to enjoy as you read. The wolf is endearing in his orange plaid suit as he heads off to his first tea-party twirling his cane and singing a little song to help him remember his manners. I've made up my own tune and my daughter LOVES the little song - we sing it even when we are not reading the book.

This is a book along the same lines as "Do Unto Otters: A Book About Manners", which I believe Seibold also illustrated, and which was also a big hit in my household. I doubt you will be disappointed in this adorable, funny, captivating book, whether you are a toddler or an adult or anyone in between who just loves children's literature.

I have many books in my Grandma Bag, which I carry with me when I visit the grandangels. But this is one of our favorites, by far. My grandson much prefers it to those "icky" princess and fairy books, and the granddaughters giggle and go around reciting the rhymes. The illustrations are fun (Yes, even for grownups who "get" some stuff that goes over the kids' heads.) And the message is meaningful without being preachy. It's a great book for parents to take to school on Mystery Reader Day, too. Highly recommended.

What an enjoyable children's book my son fell in love with the story and illustrations instantly. Judy Sierra has done a great job into turning the fairytale issues encountered by the big bad wolf into a lovely adaptation of yet another children's fable. This story is being constantly reread to my child so much that he can repeat it by sight alone. This story you have to let yourself go because the wolf sings to remind himself of what he must do to fit in. You and your child will love the revised version of this story.
