Tom Riedlinger is a writer, artist, and licensed mental health counselor currently employed as an inpatient group therapist in Olympia, WA. After serving four years in the U.S. Air Force from 1968-72, Tom spent a formative year at Central Michigan University; worked 13 years as an editor/writer for national trade magazines in Chicago while earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Northwestern University; and then earned a master's degree in theological studies and world religions at Harvard University. Along the way, he joined Mensa in 1973; served three years as Associate in Ethnomycology at Harvard Botanical Museum; was named a Fellow of the Linnean Society of London; and joined PEN America. His two published books are THE SACRED MUSHROOM SEEKER and MORTAL REFRAINS. He also has written and published numerous essays and articles in academic journals, newspapers, and magazines, as well as chapters in anthologies pertaining to cultural uses of psychoactive plants. Tom is married to hospital chaplain Beverly Jean Jenden-Riedlinger, whom he met when both were graduate students at Harvard.

Kevin Feeney, PhD, JD, is a cultural anthropologist and lawyer currently working as a Program Director and Senior Lecturer in Interdisciplinary Studies – Social Sciences at Central Washington University. His primary research interests include examining legal and regulatory issues surrounding the religious and cultural use of psychoactive substances, with an emphasis on peyote and ayahuasca, and exploring modern and traditional uses of Amanita muscaria, with a specific focus on medicinal use and preparation practices. His research has been published in the International Journal of Drug Policy, Journal of Psychoactive Drugs, Human Organization, and Curare, among other books and journals. He is a current member of Chacruna’s Council for the Protection of Sacred Plants, and recently joined the Board of Advisors for Psyched Wellness, a Canadian health supplements company emphasizing medicinal mushrooms.

I’ve Directly worked with Amanita for seven years now and prior six years of research before my now seven years of application and aside from Intuitive knowledge I have had a pleasure to be given access to unknown information concerning the Amanita. Before this book I only Possess the book of SOMA and with that I had been validated in all I had known and had been given access to. This book, while I just received it yesterday I have stroked throughout and found it to be even more validating while on the other hand the information is simply copy, cut and paste, meaning it’s been compiled from known accessible information sources and this means it’s information anyone can realize and compile however I really appreciate the fact that it has all be compiled into one single reference rather than having to search and print from different sources although one can do this. I truly love the quality of source reference as this is what should be in any text regarding antigen related hallucinogenic’s ( this is said in terms of healing ). This book is cut simple for those who are just discovering the potentials of this fungus. Please for those who are simply looking for a recreational use you will not reach the goal set for this mushroom as you should respect this mushroom and others as such. Great book from what I have overviewed and I’ll come back with more insight once I go further in-depth upon reading. I will say this for the record,,, take accountability in “your “ comprehension and learn to read on a daily to find truth behind all things said and told.

I was sent the chapter on Feeney's study on fly agaric as medicine and found it fascinating. Though detailed, the style was engaging and at no time did I feel overwhelmed by the data.
I am looking forward to reading the rest of the book (and if you can say that after reading the scientific study, you know it's gonna be good).
