Robbins argues that by using a new technique called neurolinguistic programming (NLP) anyone can become successful at almost anything. NLP teaches us how to communicate success to ourselves. One of the best ways to do this is to model ourselves on people who are successful: Think, act, and speak like a success and you are on the way to being one. Despite much helpful material (even regarding nutrition), this book scarcely acknowledges the limitations that exist in people's lives. Of course, the whole thrust of NLP is to learn to focus on one's power and not on one's limits. But the text is too wordyit reads like a transcript of a series of talksand it also needs more structure and organization. Not as self helpy as you might think

I was initially skeptical of this book when I downloaded it. I generally don't like self help and think it to be mostly fluff when it needs to be substance.

I was wrong.

Sure, there are stories in here you can skim over when you are tired and still get the gist of the book. But much of the value of this book and the good self help out there is to put into words and reinforce things you already kind of knew, but needed to have said to you. NLP seems kitschy at first but has some usefulness. Modeling seems intuitive but so few people do it. Knowing you actually need to act is something many people say they understand, but very few actually carry out.

I picked up this book during a particularly tumultuous month in my life and am glad I did so. It was one of the little reminders I needed that some people have life happen to them and some people happen to life. I would recommend picking this book up.

Tony is the champ of motivation. In this book he gives specific tricks and steps for you to take to truly make marked positive changes to your life overnight. Medical science has shown that positive thinking really does cause positive chemical changes in your body. Force a smile if you must, but that smile just caused a positive reaction to your body. Continue it and the many other ways he shows you in this book and you'll live a more fulfilling and happier life. Tony has put out many books. I have not read those. But this one even though it is copyrighted back in 1986 is as true today as it was discovered back then. A must have book for someone looking to get more motivated, get that extra push, or receive a step by step instruction on taking your own personal steps towards eliminating the years of depressing thoughts and turning them into a new beginning of positive living. This is his first book as far as I know and it lays the foundation and sets the blueprint of how to achieve what you want in the most efficient manner, A must read for everyone who wants to achieve more in their life!

Read it for the first time when I was 24 and it changed my life. I am now 43 and still reading it when I need o get back on my feet for any reason. I got separated 1 year ago and was very depressed for about 6 months. Finally got tired of feeling like a victim but I couldn't get myself to feel good. That summer I finally had time to start reading it and after only one week I was already pumped up and ready to start my new life. I've read the book on like on five different occasions in my life and it always helps. I have gone to two of his seminars and listened to his CD collection and I highly recommend all.

GREAT BOOK with a PURPOSE

Though written several years ago this book is very relevant today. The current economic and political climate is causing a great deal of stress for many people. Like Mr. Robbins has stated before "your future is greater than your past". There are natural innate tools that all of us have that can either make things worse or make things better. This book has information that will allow a person to tap into and use those tools that we naturally have to make change for the better whether it be personal or professional . I have used several of the techniques discussed in the book myself. There are a number of techniques and processes discussed in the book. You do not need to try and master all of them. You just need to try. Use only one or two of the techniques at first then add to "your tool box" as you see fit. For those of you that are new to the principles of NLP or Neurlinguistic Programming this is a must have resource. I would also recommend "Awaken the Giant Within" and "Notes From a Friend"
