Purchase options and add-ons
Successful managers have always known how to make decisions and mobilize coworkers. But as our businesses continue to expand, conversations and discussions just aren't enough to bring people and their different agendas together anymore. Dialogue, when properly practiced, will align people with a shared vision, and help them realize their full potential as individuals and as a team. Drawing on decades of research and using real life examples, The Magic of Dialogue outlines specific strategies for maneuvering in a wide range of situations and teaches managers, leaders, business people, and other professionals how to succeed in the new global economy, where more players participate in decision-making than ever before.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 31, 2023This book by Daniel Yankelovich is an excellent read chock full of insightful information, perspective, and strategy. I had this book as one of our primary text for a graduate level course and feel that this book touched upon several important lessons with meaningful examples. I could identify how lessons and strategies from this book were injected in my daily interactions (and in difficult conversations) as I worked my way through this book and dissected it in my course. Since the completion of this course, I have recommended The Magic of Dialogue to several people.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 8, 2020How the book is described makes it seem like a business book. For me that blurb missed the mark completely. This book may be needed more than ever in community settings where people need to listen to understand each other, but listen to the community members who have the lived experience. The number one take-away for me, at least, is that the so-called "experts" are the ones included in the conversation, but the people with the lived experience are the true experts. But they are often not included at the table.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 12, 2014I found this book helpful in examining dialogue and the conditions that make it increasingly important in today's world. I would recommend it to those interested in such things.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 8, 2024After reading this book several years ago, I continually go back to it whenever I'm working with teams or developing training for prospective leaders. Not only is it practical but foundational in developing greater understanding and cohesion. At a time when we are becoming more distant due to technology, this book provides vital approaches for improving understanding, and organization synergy. One of the most important books in my library.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 8, 2013I ordered this book as required reading a a Community Dialogue class.. a great read. I have learned so much from this insight.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 29, 2002This book gives practical, real-life examples of how to begin and continue a dialogue. This is NOT a book teaching you how to run a meeting. It is much more than that!
I wholeheartedly recommend it!
