This book is really excellent and very helpful in giving succinct summaries of the 50 business models it explores. I took it on holiday to Cyprus this year as one of the many books I wanted to get through and found it the first one I reached for and a real page-turner. A book on business psychology being a page-turner was a revelation in itself!
It sets out the broad range of business psychology thinking from the last 50 years or so under the three headings of Individual, Teams and Organisations in a way that is not patronising but very clear and straight-forward. I really wish I'd had this book when I was studying my MBA, as it captures so much of what was on the Organisational Behaviour module. I actually found myself understanding more about some of the business models from this book than I had from pages of study notes. Having read this book, I have found myself wanting to know more about many of the models it so clearly explains.
What is particularly helpful is the limitations that the models are known to have and some of the academic criticism of the models that has subsequently been published, as well as the website links that take you to free resources so you can start to use the models yourself. It is very refreshing that the authors have a clear understanding of their discipline of business psychology while at the same time being realistic about what it can offer to the modern work environment.
I work as a communications consultant to the health sector in London and found so much of the content of this book helpful, relevant and accessible and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone who wants a practical resource for both study and work.
