I have made so many great recipes out of this cookbook. It is a great intro to some delicious cuisines of the world. Good explanations of how to handle new ingredients and how to buy them, too. I've given this as a gift, too!

This books describes the special ingredients of each cuisine and gives simple recipes of the standards from each country's distinct menus. The book has some nice drawings and humorous descriptions. I enjoyed reading it.

I adore this book. It's a great way to sample each individual cookbook without having to splurge on the full text! For example, I like Chinese, Italian, and Mexican, but always wanted to try French and Greek. The directions are very clear, but a lot of the ingredients are hard to find. Luckily, I live in an area with a lot of little ethnic areas, so I can find most items. This could cause a problem if you don't (ordering the items from the internet would get really expensive). Yet, once you get a hold of this book, you know that maybe you can't find a lot of the items for say, Indian cooking, then at least you didn't waste your money on that full text, without being able to make anything. Once you have everything, though, you can cook like a pro!

I really like the book along with all its recipes. I bought the product listed in used condition. If there had just been minor damage to the pages that would have been fine. There was however food crusted on to some of the pages along with a layer of grime on the bottom of the book....yuck!

This is a great book, it gives you the ability to see what different seasonings can do to create an authentic dish. It is very easy to follow and a great help in the kitchen. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys cooking.

One of the best cook books I know of. Puts it all out on the plate.

My husband bought this book a few years ago and it has slowly become one of my go-to cookbooks whenever I need information on ingredients or cooking methods belonging to a certain cuisine. It's a great resource for those interested in becoming acquainted with foreign cooking because it provides very straightforward, uncomplicated instructions for the basics of each cuisine, without becoming overly technical or specialized. That being said, it is definitely thorough! The three sections I use the most are Chinese, Japanese, and Mexican, and there hasn't been an ingredient yet that I couldn't find at an Asian or Hispanic food store. Since I live in the Southwest (and not a super-metropolitan area, to boot) I was surprised at the availability of these ingredients in my area. It's harder to find authentic Indian or Mediterranean items, but I love that this book provides really authentic, GOOD tasting recipes that don't call for ingredients you'd only be able to find at specialty or ethnic stores.
