About the Author

Xolela Mangcu has served as a director of the Steve Biko Foundation and as an executive director of the society, culture, and identity program of the Human Sciences Research Council. He is a visiting scholar at the University of the Witwatersrand and the W. E. B. Du Bois Fellow at Harvard University. Archbishop Desmond Tutu is the spiritual leader of South Africa and a Nobel Prize laureate.
