I deducted a star for the extremely expensive nature of the projects as laid-out by the author. I understand that she can't control the cost of wool or jumbo yarns, HOWEVER, I really would have loved to see some alternative yarns listed. The pouf, for example, calls for two skeins of yarn that costs $125/skein. I think it's safe to say that not many readers can afford that! All of the yarns listed are merino, alpaca, etc... incredibly expensive and the sticker shock is painful, to say the least, when you go try to find the yarns for sale.
An index at the end listing both wool options (expensive!) and synthetic or blend yarns of the different weights called for would be wonderful. I saw in the back that Purl Soho donated all of the yarn used for the projects. For anyone not familiar with their (admittedly beautiful) blog and shop, it is not a place to bargain hunt for fibers. That said, their fiber selections are exquisite quality, so if you want to make a one-of-a-kind, heirloom piece, then use the recommended yarns.
Anyway...
All that said, be resourceful folks! Not just in finding alternatives, but in finding deals online. I just bought ten skeins of Lion Brand WOW yarn for a rug I want to make for $9 each (regular retail is $21!) and got free shipping. If you really love merino roving, scour Etsy and be willing to take a chance on a newer shop. Many times they'll sell their jumbo roving for less to get some early sales and reviews. I just ordered 5 lbs of gorgeous merino roving yarn from a new shop for less than $100 shipped to my door. You really need to look for the deals. And, of course, there are the big brand ones we've all seen used in online tutorials like premier couture jazz and pattons cobbles. Collect those coupons and shop around!
If you haven't already, bookmark the Yarnsub website! Then go there to find pretty much every brand and type of yarn ever created and alternatives, not just listed, but compared on texture, weight, fiber content, warmth, drape, etc.
Moral of the story: I think it's a shame that the author didn't make the projects more accessible by acknowledging that not all readers are either in the US or wealthy. But with a little bit of resourcefulness, we thriftier makers can figure out substitutions and make our own gorgeous versions of the projects in the book!

I'd never heard of finger knitting, I've always used needles, so not much I can say about method but there are pictures to go along with the how-to instructions, so I may learn. :D
The book is full of beautiful illustrations of the finished projects, along with the patterns and the skill level they're meant for, starting with 'Beginner,' of course.
It was delivered (albeit to the wrong house) quickly and in perfect condition.
If there is an opinion that differs from what I've typed above after she receives the gift, I'll come back and edit or update what I've written.
I love this book! It takes knitting to a whole different level and is great for people like me who can struggle with knitting needles due to arthritis. The infinity scarf is a popular one but Ann Weil gives us fresh ideas for it. There are even hats to be made from arm-knitting - nice ones too! There are also cushions, rugs, and the pouf seen on the front cover, amongst other items.
As for finger-knitting, thankfully only two pages are wasted on the hideous finger-knitted necklaces which clog up similar books! There are patterns for hair bands, a skipping rope, and even baby booties all made from finger-knitting! There are explanations, with clear photos on techniques, but also descriptions of yarn thicknesses etc so even a non-knitter could start with this book.
The photos are of modern interiors enhanced by knitted items, making knitting look bang on trend (which it is) but giving the book the feel of an interior design book as well as a craft book.
I highly recommend this book - I don't think anyone would be disappointed with it and I'll definitely be seeking out more from Anne Weil!
