Best Book Ever

I date an aspiring at-home bar tending guru. He would at tend for money, but at a party or dinner or family get-together, this man is phenomenal. I saw this book at a friend's house. It was all dusty, but looked interesting, so I wiped it off and it was like I found the holy grail. I immediately ordered one and haven't needed to use google once for a delicious drink. It's so extensive and organized, it's impossible for you to not find something you want. I'm almost ashamed to say that this is my most read book, but it's so damn helpful that I'm proud of it.

This book is AMAZING. If it is not in this book ... then you probably don't really need it. It handles the basic set up of a family bar or any small bar for that matter. It gives recipes and glassware advice and even shows pictures!

Being a recent graduate of a professional Bar Tender's Course I found it to be informative and useful for beginner to expert. I would buy again if I lost this one. I encourage anyone interested in the field of mixology to have one in their library.

Great Read for Beginner Bartender Professional or Home Use

I received this book as a gift a few years ago. I really enjoyed this book because it is not just a compendium of recipes. It includes the histories of many famous cocktails, where they come from, why the names are the way they are, etc. It also has information about why certain drinks should go in certain glasses, the importance of ice, and all sorts of other goodies. I am no professional bartender, but i do like a good drink (who doesn't!?) and this book has helped my home creations tremendously. Of course, it does have hundreds of pages with excellent cocktail recipes so when your one well travelled friend comes to your party and asks for the most exotic drink, youll be ready!

Too Much Information in Print Too Small to Read

Upon reading the description, the book seemed like a good fit. However, when I received it I saw that it contained way too much information for my purposes, and the printing was ridiculously small. I read the other reviews that complained about the printing, but figured "How bad can it be". Guess what...the reviews were accurate. I don't wear glasses to read, but I really had a tough time reading the contents of this book.

This book have a lot of details how to set up a bar, about drinks, etc. what I love the most is that the recipes are detailed and tell you step by step, and each recipe has a picture of the type of glass you are going to need, and what type of garnish to use. This book will come in handy. Personally, I haven't tried creating any drinks yet, but I'm super excited to start! Plus shipping was really fast!

This is a great book which is the perfect complement for your home bar. To start with, the book is a great size to keep tucked out of the way but substantial enough that it will last a long time; plus its hard cover looks good. There are so many cocktail recipes in here that you won't run out. Add to that there's a ton of information about the basic tools and drinks/mixers as well as what you may want for a pretty substantial home wet bar. The book also provides information about the history of the cocktails and the various types of alcohol.

I haven't studied the book yet, but after paging through it and reading a few of the recipes, it seems to be a very well constructed and concise guide. Along with the recipes are background information about the drinks, their origin / history. I'm satisfied it will be a good resource.
I do have to admit I was disappointed about one thing. The thing that prompted me to buy the book was the desire to learn how to make a good brandy old fashioned. Alas, there is no recipe for that (there is a Whiskey old fashioned recipe).

Apparently the Brandy version is an upper mid-west or Wisconsin thing. I'll have to resort to back alley mixologists, find what I need on the streets.
