About the author

Mark is an author, leadership consultant, and veteran convener of cross-party conversations. In the twenty years since he co-designed and facilitated the first US House of Representatives Bipartisan Congressional Retreat, he has been on the frontier of Democratic-Republican dialogues. His book Leading Through Conflict: How Successful Leaders Transform Differences Into Opportunities (published in 2006 by Harvard Business School Press) shares some of his key “transpartisan” learnings.
Having worked in both the private and public sectors, as well domestically and internationally (with the United Nations Development Program), Mark is now focusing entirely on having a positive impact on the 2016 election. The Bridge Alliance is the primary vehicle for achieving that goal. His forthcoming book The Reunited States of America: How We Can Bridge the Partisan Divide, which will be released in early 2016, shares the basic principles and profiles the leading figures in this movement.
As president of Mediators Foundation since 1986, he has incubated numerous projects designed to bridge divides and promote understanding. Today the Bridge Alliance and the Citizens Summit are the major projects of the Foundation.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 24, 2023After reading ‘The Good Earth’, and the sequel I bought this final book in the series.
It’s a good story and interesting however I found the end a bit of a let down.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 31, 2010Mr Gerzon has illustrated the values that various interest groups bring in the USA and we need to appreciate each interest group. Conversely, we must create balance among these interest groups to help our nation to continue to progress in the future.
This is a great book and it provides a thoughtful insight that is valuable to people in other societies.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 11, 1999Mark Gerzon, in A House Divided : Six Belief Systems Struggling for America's Soul, provides insight into the major dynamics of American politics and culture and the internal struggles which will shape our nation for generations to come. If the reader will put himself in the place of each of the segments of American society as Gerzon so convincingly describes each one, he will gain remarkable new understanding of the commonalities and the divisions within our country. Great read and important information.
