I lay no claim to alchemy, but I was riveted by the story of how this book came to be published. I have seen two out of the three Cathedrals the author writes about, and it was fascinating to read his analysis of the stories and examples of alchemy in both stone and glass.
There is depths of Mystery here, shown by a Master as only brief flashes of light in a darkened room. This book made me long for my own inner light to see it all. There will always be so much more to be discovered than we can ever possibly know.

Seminal work by the mysterious master French alchemist Fulcanelli. Companion to his other book "The Dwellings of the Philosophers." The author explores in depth secrets contained within the Gothic cathedrals of France. He reveals a number of secrets, providing crucial clues into the occult work of the alchemists, contained in these massive repositories of knowledge preserved in stone. Warning: this is not a work for the uninitiated or those unfamiliar with alchemy. In order to understand this book, one must have at the very least knowledge of Gothic art and architecture as well as an understanding of the rudiments of alchemy. This is necessary in order for Fulcanelli's work to make any sense to the reader. I would recommend Loius Charpentier's "Mysteries of Chartres Cathedral" and Tobias Churton's "The Golden Builders" to familiarize oneself with the subject matter before diving headlong into Fulcanelli's masterpiece.

[Paraphrase] According to Jay Weidner, Gothic Cathedrals in France (and other European countries) are all about alchemy. In many cathedrals there are statues of a woman with 7 step ladder. She is a goddess of alchemy, which worships the feminine principal of woman’s creativity.
Those buildings were built by people who couldn’t read or write; they didn’t know geometry or math.
Around 1200 EC Templars came to France from Jerusalem. They had a lot of gold, a lot of knowledge and began to construct those temples. Approximately 500 Gothic Cathedrals went up in about 250 years.
People had to learn math, geometry and to communicate with each other to be able to build such ingenious structures.
Gothic Cathedrals were built on tops of the hills and the high steeples topped the temples’ structure.
Notre Dame translates into Our Lady and statues or paintings of Black Madonna were placed in majority of the Churches.
Fulcanelli in his book unveils alchemical motives and symbols embedded in sculptures, friezes and other stone or glass artworks.

Yeah I mean wow the metaphors are obvious but the historical context of the carvings is... umm. 🫠🤯

As an initiate my review of this book is for the Birds; my lips would speak but Cant. Like The Cathars I retired into my man cave and read with rivetting and intense interest, this book; and like The Magi, my praise must be kept silent. For I am in awe of the great sign of the work.

Facinating treatise of the alchemical symbolism of many European cathedrals. A sometimes challenging read. I often had to take a break in order to absorb his writing.

Excellent book packed with information. ❤

This book explores all the alchemical references that exist at Notre Dame de Paris and Amiens cathedrals as well as several other secular locations in Europe. If you are interested in the hermetic symbolism of these places this text explores them in detail. If you were thinking that this would be a look at the many cathedrals of Europe in relation to the symbolism of the Middle Ages in general, you will be disappointed. This is pure esoteric information that does get very detailed and off the subject of the cathedrals at times. If you want to get close to what alchemy is about, you will want to read this book.

Fulcanelli knew

The reason WHY they try so hard to trash Fulcanelli lies not only in his revelation of the secret language but in the last chapter of the second edition of this book. The Cross of Hendaye reveals what "the club" tries so desperately to hide... At any rate, this is not a book to be read superficially, it's a multi-layered, in some places mirrored and reversed hermetic allegory that will take some time to unwrap. A book like "Hermes Unveiled" by Roy Norvill (available on archive org) can help to demystify the symbology and method.
