A great book. My second copy since a friend absconded with the first copy I had. The basic premise would be a good working mode for any government. Changes would definitely have to be made to make it really work though. However, Muir either eludes or comes straight out and says this himself.

I bought this book out of my admiration for Muir's Volkswagen Repair Book, and while it is written in the same conversational dialogue as the repair book, it seems to get bogged down in the details of his plans for making a better society. There are many parts of Muir's philosophy in this book that I do like. "Humankind must learn to progress without Contention" is one of my favorites. Anyone who tries to make a valiant effort to fix our society is alright in my book and if you want to read a book that will get your brain thinking about alternative rules, you will probably like this book.
