A very informative and compact take on how to handle both journeying and guiding others. If you're interested in being on either side of a psychedelic therapy session, this book is more than worth the read. Also, unlike many other books on this topic, this one is very concise. No history or cultural context or any of that. This is more of a manual, an actual handbook on how to prepare yourself for this work. Recommended.

This book is groundbreaking. Many of us that have used psychedelics have recognized their potential for healing and may have had journeys that we would consider life changing. As profound as the revelations can be, they also raise questions about what is the best framework for taking advantage of these powerful tools. What we have needed, and has so far been missing, is a guidebook. Now we have one.

The reason this book is so important is not only because it cover topics that we have not seen in print before, it is based on direct experience—the author has worked as a psychedelic therapist for thirty years and has facilitated over three thousand psychedelic therapy sessions. Importantly, he has also experienced his own healing using this method—as he says in the introduction: psychedelic therapy saved my life.

This is a guidebook for both patients and therapists, as the author emphasizes, anyone deciding to use this method for their own healing needs to do so with the help of an experienced sitter—these are powerful tools that will be effective where conventional therapy has failed but strong guidelines need to be followed to create a safe space for the patient's healing. Guidelines include which psychedelics are effective for different goals, recommendations on dosing, how patients and therapists need to prepare for a session and how to integrate healing sessions into everyday life.

As the benefits of psychedelic therapy have reemerged into public awareness, this book has come at the perfect time and should be mandatory reading for anyone contemplating this method of healing and the therapists who will be helping them.

A must read book for those healing from PTSD

There is not a better book for understanding and applying the psychedelic healing process from ptsd to empowerment. The glowing reviews on the back of the book by Ann Shulgin, James Fadiman and Harvey Schwatrz (not sure why they are not printed here but I'm attaching a photo of the back) give some indication of how respected Mr Coleman is in the entheogenic healing community. I highly recommend this book!
