LEONARD PERLMUTTER is the founder and director of The American Meditation Institute in Averill Park, New York, and the originator of National Conscience Month. Leonard is the author and editor of 'Transformation' —The Journal of Yoga Science as Holistic Mind/Body Medicine, and over the past decades has served on the faculties of the New England Institute of Ayurvedic Medicine and the International Himalayan Yoga Teachers Association. Leonard has studied in Rishikesh, India and is a direct disciple of Swami Rama of the Himalayas—the man who, in laboratory conditions at the Menninger Institute, demonstrated that blood pressure, heart rate and the autonomic nervous system can be voluntarily controlled. These research demonstrations have been one of the major cornerstones of the modern mind/body movement.

Mr. Perlmutter has presented informative Yoga Science and meditation workshops at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Kaiser Permanente, The New York Times Forum on Yoga, the Commonwealth Club of California, the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, the Washington University Medical School, the University of Colorado Medical School, the University of Wisconsin School of Nursing, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point Association of Graduates, the Albany Medical College, and Berkshire Medical Center. Since 2009, Leonard’s Heart and Science of Yoga® course curriculum has been certified by the Albany Medical College, the American Medical Association and the American Nurses Association for continuing medical education credit.

The Heart and Science of Yoga is a life changing book. I recommend it highly and also taking Leonard's on line meditation course through the American Meditation Institute in Averill Park, New York. Following the advice in the book has the potential to bring about significant improvements in your health and disposition. It is not an easy road but will allow you to realize life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The advice is timeless and based on his 30 plus years of practice. He is a guru who was trained by Swami Rama. Namaste.

I have really enjoyed reading this book and feel it has enhanced my life greatly. Love the Chpra Center and do my yoga on a regular basis.

This book really covers the philosophy and psychology of yoga in a way that can help you make real, positive and permanent change in the physical, mental and spiritual aspects of your life. . I learned about the root causes of my problems and how to go about improving them in a consistent manner. I also learned a lot about the origins and meaning of life from this book. The funny part is the after reading and trying many modern methods of self improvement I found this book to be the only one that has really helped me improve my life and all the information is based of information that is thousands of year old. This is a great book that will change your life

This book is truly a blueprint for peace and happiness. These teachings have enabled me to realize the power that is inherent within each of us. I have learned how to turn down the noise of my own busy mind and listen to the stillness that is ever present, if we just stop to notice it and develop an ear to hear it. It seems that we are born into this world with everyting that we could possibly need to navigate through our entire lives and this book enabled me to learn how to tap into that realization and discovery. Leonard Perlmutter has written a beautiful resource manual which I will read again and again and I highly recommend it to all those thirsting for a truly beautiful philosophy of life.

Are you happy? Do you feel loved? To be able to truly feel and promote peace and love is our true nature, and going against that causes dis-ease in our world. In Heart and Science, Leonard gives us the knowledge and inspiration to reclaim that which will bring us the happiness, love and ease which we all long for. The wonderful thing about this book is its ease of readability. Along with the pictures, the clear and concise text makes it an invaluable resource book for everyone.....
