Great resource to have, with many listings. Some listings are somewhat limited in the information given.

As usual, Paul K.Graham has delivered an excellent transcription of the original admission registers of the Central State Hospital in Milledgeville, Georgia, which admitted patients from not just Georgia, but all over the Southeast. A necessary addition to any Georgia genealogist's personal library.

My natural mother died there after 15 years and 3 months...I was surprised to see who was committed and why. They did not know much about mental illness back then. It was a good buy for me.

Paul K. Graham is one of my favorite Georgia genealogists. I have several of his books and this one didn't disappoint me either. The admission records are so interesting you can read this book cover to cover even if you had no ancestors in Central State Hospital. Paul not only indexed the book by name, he also indexed it by location and by reason for commitment. I am looking people up by what county they lived in. There were quite a few people committed here from other states which was also interesting. I highly recommend this book. I hope Paul is planning on a sequel because the Georgia Archives has the admission records through 1924. - - - Michele Simmons Lewis, author of "Ancestoring"

Interesting the varied people sent to CSH. Just a little sad.
