Never give up hope and the power of what a genuine support system is capable of
This book was an amazing reminder that In life's darkest moments, hope is the guiding light that leads us through. It's a beacon that reminds us to persevere, for every challenge is temporary. Through it all, our friends, family, and loved ones stand as pillars of strength, reminding us that we are never alone in our journey. Jodi brought every page to life with enough detail to feel as if I was standing with her on her journey. Wonderful read that was full of barriers and challenges that she always found a way through or around.

A sobering story that reminds us how quickly our circumstances can change and how meaningful a small act of kindness and show of support can be. We all know that we tend to overlook things we see every day and take for granted what we always have... but it doesn't really sink in until we experience great loss. The greatest fear for most of us is aging and losing control of our bodies. Health and wellness are gifts that could easily fade with time or change in an instant. This is very well-written book filled with small bites of wisdom that you don't fully notice until you get to the end and you find yourself in tears. Thank you, Jodi, for having the courage to share your story. My father currently has Glioblastoma (stage 4 brain cancer); his is inoperable and radiation / chemo have done the most they can do, so we know there's an unknown, but limited amount of time... still, I appreciate that I've been fully present in my loving relationship with him for some years now and we still meet weekly for our video chats and joke with each other like we always do. Your story resonated for me... and was a reminder that the small things we could do or say or share with others, that we may not think much of, may actually mean the world to them and make all the difference. Much love to you. I visited your websites as well and was touched by how beautiful you are. I'm happy to see you've used your experiences to start a new, meaningful path of helping others through motivational speaking.

I found "The Sun Still Shines: How a Brain Tumor Helped Me See the Light" a fascinating but difficult read. The horrendous struggle to survive a rare brain tumor left me simultaneously exultant, and, distraught. I am definitely not a fan of the medical industry as it exists today, and the fact that experienced surgeons didn't discover the fairly common reason for Jodi's close brush with death sooner left me even angrier with medical 'experts.' But the depiction of loving, loyal, patient family and friends was the bright spot in this true struggle to hold on..no matter how traumatic..to the miracle of life. Inspiring account of survival against almost impossible odds.

I had lost a cousin Feb 2017 to Brian cancer when I came across this book a few weeks later. Thought it would maybe give me some insight to the loss of my cousin. Little did I know that it was going to be more about someone else's struggle with a similar diagnosis but a different outcome which included survival. I appreciate your honesty and the lessons learned through it all. I feel as though I was there cheering you on and wondering the whole time if there was light at the end of the tunnel for you. Unlike most you chose to make the best of a horrible situation thanks to your dear friend and confidant! I am enlightened by reading your story and the pain you had to deal with from strangers, people can be so cruel and I can only hope that by reading your story that I can show more compassion to others I come across and instead of wondering what happened to them show them kindness when someone else may stare or make fun of their disability. We never truly know what someone else has gone through until we have walked in their shoes. You truly are blessed beyond belief with such a loving family & friends.

Jodi is a true inspiration and her faith in God really does "Shine"! The book is her personal account and journey of how a brain tumor changed her, physically, mentally and spiritually.
The book is easy to read, I was amazed at the depth and descriptions. I felt as though I was an observer in her life and it wasn't just a peek, she doesn't hold back. The good, the bad and the ugly, it is laid out on the table for the reader to digest and sort out.

The word Survivor doesn't begin to describe Jodi. She is so much more. The love and support from her family and friends along with her faith shows the depth as how miracles can happen.

This book would be good for people experiencing their own tests in life. It came across as a deep faith in God without being "preachy". I would also highly recommend it to any caregivers (including friends and family) that take care of patients on daily basis. Jodi gives a straightforward account of how it feels to be totally reliant on others.

This is one of the most amazing stories that I have ever read! It is the account of a
beautiful young mother of four who was forced to face terrible health challenges that most of us cannot even imagine. She writes with incredible candor about her fears, weaknesses, and sadness as well as the power of faith, love, and family to help to survive the worst experiences that life can give us. It captured me from the first pages and I could not put it down!. I was so inspired by Jodi's courage and determination to live, and then to resume her life of serving and lifting others. She teaches us that we each have a gift and we can use it to reach out and help others, even if with small and simple acts of kindness. Thank you for sharing this beautiful and powerful message!

Don't get me wrong but thoroughly enjoyed this book.
How conscious we should be of the still small voice and obey His instructions. Whatever falls our way He knows us through and through. Gives encouragement when the road is very tough and hangs onto us through it all. What a loving, sympathetic God & Father we have.
What a testimony to share with others. I didn't have brain surgery just open heart surgery which resulted in only half being done and a stroke on the operating table. But Praise God I'm home and able after a fashion to look after myself with the help of my children.

Poignant statement : "Survivor is a duplicitous word. For outsiders, the word means conqueror and victor. For those that share the title, it means something else altogether. For some, it means death knocked on their door and they answered with a fight. For me, the battle had already dragged on and I accepted what those around me had not: death was not a bad option. If you have lived a good life, the hardest part in accepting death lies in knowing those you love don’t want you to die. They will be the ones to suffer when the sufferer finds relief. Living can be a difficult state of life."
