This is one of the best thought out and put together books on why and how to prepare that I have seen, and I've read a LOT of books. I was hesitant to purchase this one (since I have read so many) because it seems, in the preparedness realm, there is nothing new under the sun. I'm happy to say that this book broke that mold. Having been taking measures to look after my family and be as self sustainable as possible for several years now, I DID find new and helpful information in this book as well as some considerations I had not thought of. Excellent resource. I am seriously considering purchasing a second copy for my parents.

**I want to add, the book is broken up into two parts, but one volume. This is confusing when you look at the first table of contents and realize it only goes halfway through the book. After that, you find the second table of contents in the middle of the book and have an "AHA" moment and from there your thinking becomes "Wow, This was money well spent!". The first part of the book goes over all of the reasons why we should prepare and really helps inform you in a detailed (not not overwhelmingly detailed) manner to be able to state your case and have confidence in what you are doing. The second half is your huge resource of how to prepare, what to purchase, where to get it, why you need it, etc. The list of items for barter made far more sense than any list I've seen to date. All in all, this is truly the best thought out book I've seen.

This book is invaluable. The economics lays most of it out in layman’s language. I’ve pap-clipped the last, and most technical, part for my husband to interpret for me. We’ve bought, renovated while living in, 9 homes before selling and moving with the Air Force. So I do have some understanding of these matters but I’m sure he can confuse me and I’ll ask someone who can teach old dogs. This economics, from what I can understand, confirms my intuition. And it scares me to the bone.
The prepping section I haven’t finished yet but there are so many questions I have asked myself over the passed 10 years or so of prepping I have been working on. I have been highlighting and underlining and book marking with ideas to put into action.
It is just what I had hoped for and I’m not disappointed in the least.
My thanks to the writers.

I’ve purchased several survival books over the past couple of years, and this one is the best one of the bunch. It covers so much more than other books I’ve read. The first part of the book talks about financial collapse, independent of, or because of some sort of natural disaster, viral or biological illness, or aggression from another country or from within our own. I learned so many things about our financial institutions and the extremely sad shape they are in, along with some ways to possibly protect some assets. The second and longer part of the book is about preparing for whatever may come. Again, even though I’ve read several books on this issue, this one had new and very much needed information. With so many to choose from, I want to say this one I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I could not put this book down. I have read several preparedness books but this is the best. It is so easy to get overwhelmed by all the planning and at times you wonder why are you preparing and are you doing all that you can to help your family through a natural or man-made disaster. This book covers so much in a very easy, readable format. The authors truly want to help you. Plus they refer you to many websites to get further information. This is a book that I think my husband will read and it will explain to him better why I have an EDC bag in the car, or why I try to stock up on a few extra supplies so we don't have to wait in a grocery line with people who panic when they hear a snowstorm is coming. This is a common sense book that any one can read and maybe, just maybe, understand why we prepare. If there was one downside to reading this book it made me feel underprepared, something I will work on.

A great book focused on preparing for disasters, both natural and man-made. Be wise, be prepared. Disasters happen all the time, we can see it on the news every night, so don't think it can't happen to you, it can. With some simple, common sense preparations, you can protect your family for an extended time until, hopefully, things get back to normal, or not. You'll have to decide exactly how far you take your preparations, but this book is a great overview of all the possible scenarios and the supplies and preparations you'll need to weather the storm, be it a hurricane, a pandemic or an economic collapse.
Having said that, the author holds some notoriously biased and outrageous far right-wing views on everything from the economy to politics to religion, so be advised. But if you can get past that and take this book for what it's worth, I think you'll find some great information and help concerning emergency preparedness.

Really enjoyed this book. Well written, with the first half focusing on some of the potential causes of America's (or the world's) next crisis. The second half provides practical prepping "how to's". There is a great summary at the back for things to "hoard" and barter. This is the kind of book that you can read a chapter or two, try to incorporate what the author is saying, and then come back again to learn more. I'm not a big prepper, but the more time goes on the more I do believe something big will happend (most likely either a financial meltdown due to our debt, or an EMP). Note: The author is a Christian and isn't apologetic; he makes the comparison between our times and the time of Noah and the arc. Like the title, love the book!

Micheal gives a good background of the hanky-panky done by the Fed and the US government. Barbara gives a detailed list of things to stockpile in times of trouble (food, water, medical supplies, etc. mainly things you can buy whether you stay home or "bug out"). Could have used a bit more info on energy (solar, wind, etc.). She also had a few typos with words that sound the same ( led - lead, fly's - flies, advise - advice). 2000 cc oxygen absorbers could have been described more adequately (that means 2 liters, and on amazon they don't look that huge). Book could have had a glossary and an index also at the back. More than a few people noticed the title and wanted a copy.(I ordered them one).
